Please note we have been advised that this the touring site at this location is now permanently closed, and no longer offers camping, motorhome or caravanning pitches. There is now just one Glamping cabin with it’s own private hot tub for hire.
If you know that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks

Very basic site, there is a composting toilet, water from a spring and a sink which you fill from a bucket and that is it. Very quiet and the women who run it are very pleasant and helpful. If you want to experience something of wildcamping and want to pay for it this is the site for you.
The main disadvantage is that the site is effectively a swamp; the ground is saturated, even on the dry time I stayed, and this leads to the inevitable midge and mosquito attack. Fortunately you can have a fire (nothing will burn around you), essential on those midgy evenings,

I am slightly biased about Gwalia Farm because I visited here nearly every year as a child and have nothing but happy memories of being there. I now try and go camping here every few years.
The campsite itself is a field where you can choose the spot where you want to camp. Camp fires are allowed. The actual facilities are quite a basic, there is a sink in the field to do washing up that uses water from the stream and a toilet near the farm house.
However, the real magic of this place is how beautiful and peaceful it is. There is a small lake which you can canoe on or swim in or just sit by in the evening. The place is surrounded by hills for walking or cycling up and it is not too far from the coast.

At Gwalia, you'll find a small lake (complete with rustic diving board and a couple of canoes), plenty of wood for campfires, a good old fashioned long drop tucked away in the woods and very little else.
If you're looking for camping with all the mod-cons, look elsewhere. If you're looking for nature, peace and quiet, and perhaps a chance to live simply for a few days, this place should be high on your list.
We've been a couple of times now and will definitely be back to chill out and continue exploring the local mountain biking and hiking trails.
