 Stayed for 1 week (booked this year for 3) Pleasant quiet site on the River Gard. It does get very busy in the French Holiday time, though in the first week of July it was great. There are some permanent vans on site but they are all congregated together. No set places, just pay at the office and stay where you wish. We were down next to the river. All grass and lots of trees, in a nice flat area for shade. Open area with no shade is also available but seems to have lots of midges !
Lots of Hook-Up points (No Earth on the hook up though) and plenty of water points.
The river is dammed up to provide a swimming/canoeing area but is only about 2 metres deep. There are large carp in the dammed area that you can fish for, and eat. Below the dammed area the river is very shallow and natural and carries gold. The site offers free Goldpanning lessons every week.
Toilets were clean and cleaned regularly, showers were free with lots of very hot water.
Has a small on site Bar and restaurant with some special BBQ mights in high season.
There is a pool with a water slide but this is really the only facility for kids. The village of Cardet is only 2 minutes away and fresh bread is available. Anduze is 10 minutes away and has all facilities, including the famous Steam train ride to St Jean Du Gard. The Bambouserai just outside of Anduze is a trip that should not be missed as is the Pont Du Gard Roman aquaduct about an hour and a half away.
