A pleasant campsite with spacious pitches, plenty of room for the campervan, awning and still some space to sit outside. The pitches are edged by small bushes, trees and hedges giving some privacy but not creating too much shade. The owners were friendly, helpful and allowed us to choose our own pitch.
The large beach is about 10-15 minutes walk from the campsite with lovely sand. Also a coast path runs alongside this and a bike track allowing for circular walks to be done with some shade whilst in the trees.
The facilities were fine, communal shower block with lots of cubicles and separate toilets for male and female with toilet roll and soap provided. The showers didn’t have adjustable temperatures and were a little bit cold, but in the height of summer no doubt this would be great.

Well, turned out nice again didn't it!
This was not our first choice as it looked a bit urbanized. But it isn't.
What it is. ?
A two minute flat walk to the smashing little village.
Lots of small restaurants, a five minute flat walk to groceries.
Three minute walk to an engaging little port. With beaches and rockpools. A slightly longer walk to a long gorgeous beach. By car the surrounding area is. Just magnificent.
The site is typically French. Shaded, hedged, apple trees galore. Facilities. Not in their flush of youth, but well looked after. No worries there. Lashings of hot water, a place to wash everything. Including seafood separately. Toilet paper, library,
Games room, bouledrome, table tennis, and of course. THE POOL/s.
Struggling to find a downer. But yes the pool could've been a tad warmer. It was 24degs. Sounds warm but but wasn't really in September. But that is nit picking really.
What made it perfect for us were the people. Both on site. Fellow campers. Owners. And village people. All great.
Sadly we were too late for the Concarneau ferry( 35mins) 8euros each way, but catch it next time. For. We shall return.
N. B. We live in France so have camped on so very many sites over the years.
Our other fav. Is at Jarnac in the Charente, just an hour from us. Oh and Balaruc les Baines in Herault. Oh and. Sorry, must go. Camping calling.

This is a small but perfectly presented site just minutes from the centre of the village. It is clean with colourful plants near the entrance to attract visitors. There are two shower blocks and toilets so you are never too far away from the amenities. The pool area is welcoming with lots of sun beds and a well displayed list of do's and don't's (all necessary). The receptionist is friendly and eager to please, so if you have any questions, ask her and she will help.
Beg Meil is small but well-formed, with a few shops, bars and restaurants. The beach is a few minutes walk from the site and well worth a look.
There is a regular bus route to Quimper which is a lovely town, with shops, museums and galleries.
We really enjoyed our stay here and wish we had had more tome. There were lots more we could have explored nearby but sadly only stayed 2 nights on our tour of Brittany.

Pros- Friendly owners welcomed us after our long journey. The location of the campsite is excellent within easy access on foot/cycle to the local small fishing port of Beg Meil and excellent beaches.
The pool facilities were good & clean with plenty of seating. A small shop at reception sold basics ie croissants, bread, chilled orange juice which were reasonably priced. Small charge for freezing cooler packs. Basic games room and good playground ideal for children.
Cons- too many dogs accepted ( some 3 dogs per family) dogs not always kept on leads which led to particular problems with fouling on pitches. Not want you want when you are tenting and have children. Also all the shower cubicles were locked every day between 1. 30pm and 5pm for cleaning. Toilets often smelt of drains.
Would not return based on cleanliness of pitches. A real shame as lovely owners, great location with a real French ambience.

We visited this campsite for two consecutive years 2007 & 2008 and can only say what a wonderful welcoming site it is.
Upon arrival the first year, we were greeted (on a very hot day I might add) with a bottle of the local cidre 'for the thirst' from the very friendly owner. The pitches are of a decent size - we had a 12 man tent at the time with plenty of extra room for chairs / sunbathing etc.
The pool area is nice and clean & well kept with armbands issued so that only people staying on the campsite can use it.
The toilets and shower areas are kept lovely and clean at all times.
Beg Meil is a fantastic little resort with plenty of little bars & restaurants (pizzerias, creperies & traditional Breton restaurants)with in a 5 minute walk of the site. If you like seafood then you will love the Moules et frites.
The beaches are beautiful and there are several nice ones with in cycling / walking distance.
There is a pizza van & a spit roast chicken van that visits once a week.
There are lots of nice places to visit nearby including Concarneau, Quimper, Benodet & Fousenant.
I would like to add that as an English family on a predominantly French campsite we were made to feel very very welcome and hope to visit again sometime in the not to very distant future.
P.S. Although we have left it so long, we felt that this site deserved a good review & are very surprised that nobody else has left one.
