Please note we have been advised that this site is now permanently closed, and no longer offers camping, motorhome or caravanning pitches. If you know that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks

Site was easy to find, being just of a busy main road, but a note to add is that the entrance is not via the ornate arch as described in a previous review, it's the slightly less ornate entrance next to this! The owner was very friendly and we were given a lakeside pitch. I can see how it might be a little tight on space during peak times but we were fortunate to be in low season. There is a large restaurant on site with free wifi. Access to the grey waste area was a little odd as there are two barriers on the site and we were not given a pass to access either, so had to walk round to the reception to ask them to raise one of the barriers to empty our grey waste. You would have also needed to do this just to leave the camping area, which seems excessive as there is another barrier at the exit to the site, this first barrier seems pointless and a hassle if you were regularly using a car to explore the area. There are several shops along the main road, approx a 20min walk, but turn left out of the site not right! There is no walkway so it isn't a very pleasurable walk and like previous reviewers have said, the Italians are a little manic so take care. Cost per night was a little high at over 30 euros a night for two adults, two dogs and a motorhome with electric, but I'm guessing you pay a premium for a lakeside pitch. There seemed to be a lot going on for kids to do and there were some permanent units on site you could hire.

Site well located to explore Lake Maggiore and lake Como. Family orientated site with lots of kids entertainment, pool and lake access. Mainly Italian families. Agree entertainment was very loud some nights ( kids disco) but stops about 10pm.

We stayed in the quiet area of the site away from the lake. This has great sized grassy pitches with 16 amp electricity. Access for our caravan to the lakeside pitches would have been very tight, although pitch size fine.

Toilet blocks clean but old and need renovating. As previously stated, few western style toilets. Restaurant and bar excellent. Free Wifi available. Supermarket 5 min away.

This campsite is in a fantastic location right on the edge of lake maggiore. We arrived at 3pm and were given a choice of pitches from a white board at the reception which showed all the pitches on the site, we chose a pitch 2 vans back from the lake and were told by the young girl at the reception that we were also very close to the entertainment area, but as we have teenage kids I said that would be fine, although my wife had second thoughts when she overheard a Dutch lady say the music is very loud and she was there to see if she and her husband could move further away from the entertainment.

The Owner then told us to unhitch and he would take the caravan to the pitch and we should follow him with the car.

When we got to the pitch it was in a great position and was very quiet and we couldn't work out what all the fuss was about, this however soon changed when we started setting up and the 'animation' entertainment staff started the music for the kids. Loud, I said Loud, oh well, that was ok as the boys soon joined in.

The lake was great for swimming and the owner has put a diving platform about 30 metres from shore and we all enjoyed jumping and diving off it. There is a large grass area by the lake next to the entertainment and the site provides a limited number of loungers, but if they are all taken as 1 day they were, we just took our own recliners to the area, also it is next to the astro turf area so we could keep an eye on the boys either swimming or footballing.

The showers are hot and powerful and not on a button, they are proper showers, there is 2 English toilets but the other 5 are Turkish(hole in the Ground) but they are all clean, sometimes there is a queue for the English ones, but hey ho there's always the van toilet.

The only other unusual thing we found was the chemical waste is in the male and female toilets, and you have to carry it past all the people shaving and washing.

The dishwashing area is superb, with plenty of sinks to do the dishes and the recycling area is next to them.

The water for filling water buts is from sinks and I had to fill a gallon container then pour it into the water butt as none of the connectors I had fitted the sink tap. Although there was a motorhome point the other side of the campsite if you wanted to do it the normal way.

There is a large restaurant on site and this is open to the public as well as campers, it also has a discount pizza takeaway for those camping and they are very good value for money at 6 euros each.

The site is about 400 metres from the railway station where you can catch trains to Milan. We chose to drive to Milan and parked for free at the San Cero football stadium, and then caught a tram into the city centre, and at 1 euro for 4 trips great value.

The Walk along the road outside the campsite is a bit dodgy as there is no pavement and the Italians are a little mad as they don't stop at the zebra crossing outside the main gate unless you are halfway across.

The entrance is probably the best campsite entrance I have seen, there is an archway with fountains that stop when you drive close to then(although I'm sure you could if you wanted to drive faster and get the underside if your car washed).

There are 3 great supermarkets all within 2km from the campsite and you can walk to 1 of them.

We will definitely be going back to this site as the owner and his staff are all very nice and friendly and the site clean and tidy. The only drawback was the price, 2 adults and 2 teenagers was 48 euros a night, but then again the site was worth it.

This is a huge, well located and well run campsite, situated in Dormelletto on the south west coast of Lake Maggiore. Facilities on site are very good with many showers and toilets, a swimming pool, shop, bar and restaurant.
The site offers lots of entertainment, particularly for children throughout the day and night. Like many sites in Italy, many of the pitches were small and the roads around them very tight - however, if you are camping in Italy, you come to expect to be squashed in a bit!
Site fees were a set peak season price of 40euros for pitch, electricity + 2 adults and up to 3 kids, which wasn't ideal, as there is only 2 of us and we don't really use the 4* services that warrant the big prices! Nevertheless, we got an excellent pitch, right on the lake shore, which was worth the cost in itself!

The site is right in the town, where you will find a range of bars, cafes, supermarkets and fuel stations, although there isn't a great deal to keep you there. There is also rail connections at Dormelletto station to save driving to explore the area.

Overall, an beautifully located site worth visiting, but pricey for couples who just want basic facilities.
