 From the direction of Bitburg you approach the village via a hairpin bend so take care. As you approach the village the access road is the third street on the left. The campsite is at the end of the street.
The receptionist spoke excellent English and provided lots of information about the site and the area.
We were allocated a pitch close to the river. It was early May so not very busy but I suspect it might get very cosy in summer.
We used the new toilet block which was extremely well appointed and had underfloor heating.
Lots of facilities for families including football pitch, play ground and pool. We ate at the site restaurant and it was excellent. Good menu and food well prepared.
The CC pitch free was €20. Being so early we had to have the heating on overnight. Which was fine until we paid the bill. We were charged an extra €8. 80 for electricity. This was not explained to us when we arrived so beware. We ended up paying a total of €28. 20

We arrived here for a 2 night stopover on way to Switzerland and have decided to stay for 6 nights. It just happens to be a German long weekend so yesterday filled up. It's typical German, pack em on type site but our pitch is of a decent size and we are happy here. The toilet block is outstanding. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. We visited Trier and Vianden the latter was lovely. Would definitely return. Best booking one of the larger pitches with electric, water and waste on the pitch. We are on 459.
There are only 2 other Brit caravans on site it's mainly Dutch and Germans but they are all very friendly.

We stayed on this campsite in August 2016 for 1 week. Done lots of research on this website and others we decided to give it a go. Sadly we were disappointed. Yes, the wash blocks are very good, yes the food in the restaurant was good, yes the pool is good, yes the staff is ok and yes, if you have teenagers this campsite might be good. So why did we not fully enjoy staying at Pruemtal?
I like the Dutch, don't get me wrong, but to our disappointment 99% of the campers were Dutch. Staying on a German campsite, we hoped that our children, English and German speaking, could improve their German while playing with other children. But everbody, children and adults, were speaking Dutch. Except the members of staff - luckily.
In the restaurant we were given Dutch menus even we were speaking German. I think they get the Dutch menus out by default!
And a campsite with lots of teenagers is a loud campsite. We had to complain 3 times at the reception that the big gatherings of both adult and teenage groups were happy chattering away at 2am - even with the official 'Ruhezeit' being 11pm, In a caravan that might be just ok but in a tent it was not at all. The reception did know who was part of these gatherings but I was under the impression that they were to 'afraid' saying anything as these were regular guests.
Another indicator that this campsite is not 100% suitable for tents is that our pitch was covered in little stones and sand which felt like having popcorn under the groundsheet.
Would we go back to Pruemtal? I have to say no.

We booked this campsite having read the good reviews here. And we were not disappointed. This is a lovely site, we had one of the larger pitches (502) down opposite the river with the wood behind. I would recommend getting one of the larger pitches as in general they were smaller than the pitches we are used to in France and the UK.
The reception was friendly and helpful on arrival and then a member of the team came down to make sure all was ok and check the facilities were fine. He was very cheery and regularly cycled past during the day always smiling with a happy 'hello'. The site was mainly filled with Dutch and Germans. It was possible to order fresh bread/croissants the night before from the local bakery, which could be collected from reception after 8 am.
We all made good use of the pool, which was excellent. Plenty of room for swimming and a diving board with a more 'fun' bit attached with a small wide slide, fountains and bubbles. There was also a splash pool for toddlers. The pool is heated which was appreciated on the more cloudy days.
The river also provided great entertainment with fishing and dam building as well as the opportunity for the kids to travel down on rubber rings! In the evening we enjoyed watching a couple of water voles playing.
The heated washing block with toilets and showers were outstanding. They were spotless even when the site was full. There weren't that many washing up facilities but this was never a problem I think because much of the site was taken up with caravans and camper vans. Again these facilities were spotless.
The on site restaurant was very good with a mix of local specialities as well as a pizzeria also available as takeaway.
There is plenty to see and do in the area, we could easily go back again. Bitburg is close by and has a couple of supermarkets and a small farmers market on Friday and Saturday. Vianden was beautiful and I would say that a visit to Trier is a must.
I would thoroughly recommend this site.

We had been recommended this site by friends on a forum, WOW are we glad we changed our plans to have longer here. Noy many adjacent shops etc but great walking opportunities from the site or locally and a bus stop at end of entrance road.
Reception and site Restaurant are adjacent to the Swimming Pool which is free to those staying on the site. Booking in is very organised with excellent English spoken by Daniel to help my very poor schoolboy German. Loads of information given regarding the local area and a choice of serviced or non serviced pitches given (nothing extra charged for water and waste hook up!) We were invited to walk round and chose pitch, once done access card given (doubles for toilet block) and drove in and onto the pitch All well marked and divided, not huge, but not small either. One of the staff comes round as you are setting up and checks everything ok. We think this is also to check you are in the correct electric plug in case you use excess. Apparently some Dutch have been known to try and use a neighbours socket. And I thought I was tight as a Yorkshireman.
Toilet block is FANTASTIC card access heated clean and modern makes CC sites look old fashioned. Loads of washing areas and an outside dog shower, washing machines and dryers (charged seperatley.
The Restaurant is again FANTASTIC and good value for the huge portions, staff attentive and excellent. Do try the LieselSpirit to finish the meal off distilled for the campsite and delicious. THE best site we have stayed on anywhere and with ASCI fantastic value for money even paying for your own electricity

Stayed here for 4 nights at the end of May and loved it. Beautiful setting along the banks of the River Prum in the small town of Oberweis. As others said, some of the pitches are a little on the small size compared to French sites, but this seems to be the norm in Germany and on the plus side, our very close German neighbours were incredibly friendly - had more conversations than I usually have on other campsites. Our fave pitch choice for next time would be 457 for a little extra space. The facilities on our pitch were excellent - water, drainage and electricity and as long as you don't go mad, there is no extra cost for the latter. We used TV, microwave, gadgets etc and this did not trip any supplement. In fact with ACSI, the overall cost was great value.
The facilities on the site were excellent - my teenage kids played badminton, basketball and table tennis and also braved a dip in the lovely pool - at 20 degrees in May, the water was a little cool for me, but it was well used when it was warm enough to be open (closes in cooler weather) and I am sure it would be lovely in summer. The new toilet block is possibly the best I have ever seen whilst camping - access by swipe card (I understand the reasoning behind putting the sensor high, as some of the facilities could be open to abuse by younger unaccompanied kids), with warm, clean, modern facilities and lovely hot showers - my kids have never been so keen to shower whilst camping !
The staff were all really friendly and helpful, particularly the man who shows you to your pitch, who always then greeted us cheerily every time he passed. English was well spoken everywhere and they were also very polite about my rusty German ! Most of the other campers were German or Dutch and I think that we were probably the only Brits there at this time, but that wasn't a problem for us at all. The restaurant was excellent and good value too - make sure you book on public holiday dates. We were there on Ascension Day and both the site and the restaurant were packed full !
We took the bus into Bitburg to visit the local spa called Cascade, which was great fun and value, but didn't venture much further than that into the town, although it looked nice enough. You can take a fairly easy cycle ride from the site to the next village, where there are a couple of small supermarkets, but beware the lunchtime period (12-2. 30) when they close.
Probably my only negative would be the camp shop - for a largish site in a town where there is not even a mini supermarket, a better stocked shop would be helpful. It really did just have basics and NO chocolate! There is however a bread ordering service from the bakers just outside the site which we used every day.
All in all, a lovely site and we would visit again without hesitation.

We stayed in April 2014 using an ACSI card and paid €16 per night for 2 people including electricity. The pitch was large, flat and grassy with 16amp electricity and free WIFI. The site is on the Village Recreation Ground and so has a playground, tennis court, football pitch and large outdoor pool. A stream runs alongside the site with a footpath you can walk or cycle along to the next village. Site facilities are excellent, they are modern and heated. There is a bar/restaurant on site but we couldn't try it as it closed on Mondays. The staff are friendly and helpful. Access to the site is a bit narrow and not well signed from the village but we found it ok with sat nav instructions. We will definitely return.

Received a very warm welcome at this campsite, staff all friendly, helpful and most have excellent English. We were there at an extremely busy time of the year and the site was very crowded - the pitches are tight and having been used to caravan club sites back home, this took a bit of getting used to. Site geared more to families with young children as there is plenty to keep them occupied with excellent pool and activities in the games field. The facilities are kept clean at all times with good showers but inadequate for the number of people on site. We did see plans for a super new toilet block though! Electricity on meter, showers included. Wifi about 7 euros for 5 hours. Trip to Vianden, Luxembourg recommended. Bitburg, a few miles away has some nice shops and good supermarkets. Would definitely consider revisiting this site at quieter time of year.

We stayed for one night at this site on our way back to the UK. The welcome was excellent but we did find the site overcrowded. Despite only having a single axle, 7 metre, van we were unable to get the caravan to the pitch without unhitching and pushing it the last 30 metres or so to the pitch. The pitches are of a reasonable size but the access roads were too narrow.
It is aimed at younger children who were very well catered for, our teens felt out of place. Lots of activities were laid on, which were noisy until about 9 then the site was very quiet indeed.
The entire site seemed to be taken up by Dutch caravanners who were staying for sometime. There were excellent facilities; pool, restaurant, toilet block and reception. We would have appreciated a second swipe card for access to the toilet block but this was not available.
Not a site we will return to, mainly because our children are too old and didn't like being surrounded in younger children but also because it is tight to drive around and we do not need the extensive facilities.

This year was our 5th or 6th visit to this site. I agree with all David Klyne has written about the site. It has not varied over the years we have stopping there. Herre Kohler, who with his family, run this 5 star site are very friendly and helpful. The staff and food in the Restaurant are excellent and never vary either, prices are very reasonable for a 5 star restaurant.
We always have the same large pitch down by the river where it is quiet in April when we are going down to Austria and still nice when we come back in June. Children seem to be well catered for. Free WiFi is excellent. ACSI card taken out of season which makes this excellent site very good value.
