We pre booked this with the site prior to leaving for our holiday, good communication and replies in english. What a cracking little site, owners most helpful and engaging. We also pre booked an evening meal which was outside under a marquee. All sat together on large tables, very pleasant, and so was the food. They do meals three times a week. Mon. Wed and Fridays during peak periods. Pitches were large and easy to access, the roads seemed newly resurfaced so the curb is not as large and we didn't need ramps as I had seen in another post. We didn't use the pool but other campers did. We didn't walk into town but this is quite close so no problem. We ordered bread and croissants from the office and collected them at eight in the morning. Facilities were fine and clean. I would not hesitate to recommend this little gem, for a night halt or longer.

An ACSI site alongside a park and canal within walking distance of the small town. Ideal for exploring the area - we visited Saintes and Cognac, last seen in the 1990s. This is a site with a lot of statics, but the touring area is separate and adequate in size. We stayed a week, but most visitors seemed to use it for 1 or 2 nights to break a journey as it is quite close to the motorway. Friendly staff. Bread available from reception if pre-ordered. Sanitary facilities looked tired, but were clean and adequate, although could be stretched in the high season. No hand wash basin in the loos and everyone was rinsing hands under the taps for washing up sinks or for clothes washing sinks. Own loo roll required. Plenty of hot water. Ladies' had cubicles for the wash basins, but the mens' didn't - they were in a line open to all comers, according to my OH. WiFi charged for (except first half hour), but it reached our pitch which was about halfway down the site. Some large trees and the grassy pitches divided by small hedges. If you want shade it pays to have a compass and ensure that you are the right side of the trees. The site has a pool, but they are very rigid on the no shorts rule. Twice weekly markets in the town, but we found them rather small and disappointing. However, they were a great gathering place for the locals. We found some lovely dog walks along the canal and also along the river. We paid 130. 96 euros for the week.

A well located municipal site on the edge of the town opposite a riverside park.
Walking distance to the town - although some of it by busy main roads.
Town worth a visit, plenty of shops and restaurants. Unfortunately all of the historical visitor attractions were closed and did not open until mid/ late June. The tourist season here appears quite short.
Basic clean shower/toilet facilities. Grass pitches with just a few small hedges and trees for shade.
Drinks and snacks at reception. Can order croissants/ baguettes the day before for collection next am.

We found this site completely by accident after dark. Getting desperate for somewhere to overnight on our way south to Carcassonne.
It's a pretty site, long and narrow and separated from the river by a road (not too busy). There were quite a few units on, even though it was mid-September. A few British caravans, (no twin-axles though - not allowed), but mainly French with some Dutch and a few Germans. The entrance is through a security barrier controlled by the site on the inbound side, and automatically as you drive up on the outbound side. It seems quite safe and reasonably quiet, though there's some traffic noise from the town just a few hundred yards away, and the péage which by-passes the town, again not too far away.
Each of the pitches are separated from the next by small hedgerows. The pitches weren't very large, and we noticed one or two units taking up the whole of one pitch for caravan/awning and parking their car in the pitch next door! There's EHU close by for those who need it, and water points are on the same bollards. EHU plug is of the 2-pin French type, so you'll need adapters, and polarity reversing kit too. The shower block is kept clean & tidy, and is fairly large. The sinks for personal hygiene strangely enough are in here, rather than being in with the urinals and toilets a little further down the block. There were large sinks in the toilet block though that were marked for pot-washing, or clothes wash.
There's a large covered games room with a few slot-machines, a TV and a pool table.
There's also a small play area for the kids, and what look like some nice riverside walks too. The town of St. Jean d'Angely looks fit for exploration, though we were just passing through en route to Cognac & beyond!
There were fresh pastries and breads delivered to the office each morning, ordered the night before, so breakfast when camping isn't a chore here!
All in all, not a bad little stopover, nicely located for Cognac, Saintes and surroundings.
