We loved this delightful campsite, very natural set amongst trees with a little stream running through the middle. Immaculate modern sanitary facilities (best ever on a campsite) very peaceful and a great pool. Friendly owners and a lovely little bar/restaurant area with the most delicious Black Forest gateaux. No noise from the road.
An easy cycle ride in to Freudenstadt which has a fantastic large town square with fountains all over for people to jump on and run between. Recommend Kniebis-Hutte for a very German lunch with very friendly waitresses, we were glad of their advice in choosing as our German is hopeless.
Careful that you don't get lost if going cycling in the forest - thought we would never get out of it! Take a good map and some Kendal mintcake! Great waterfall which could have been amazing if it had been in full flow. Shame they are not going to take acsi anymore but it is worth the extra euros to stay here a couple of nights.

An excellent campsite in the heart of the Black Forest about 7 hours drive from Calais.
Terraced site with some sloping pitches (ok for smaller tents) but most fairly flat, however lots of tree roots and some larger flat rocks - bent tent pegs! Some pitches very shaded, others more open but most get some sun during the day.
A lovely shallow babbling river runs through the middle of the site. Pitches on the higher terrace are nearer the road. Plenty of water and electricity points and picnic benches dotted around.
Facilities are modern and excellent. Individual shower cubicles as well as private wash cubicles with mirrors, stools and electric points. Hairdryer and electric points in main wash block. 4 luxurious private family bathrooms (upstairs) with separate loo, walk in shower, basin, plenty of hooks, hairdryers. Never seen anything like this at a campsite before, better facilities than most budget hotels!
Downstairs disabled washroom and separate children's washroom. Indoor and outdoor dishwashing facilities with plugs and drainers. Clothes washing sinks, dog shower. Washroom with 2 machines and 2 tumble dryers cost E3 for a wash.
Small swimming pool with 3 sunbeds and very sunny terrace. Onsite restaurant serving basic meals, salads, hot and cold drinks, beer, wine. Good value.
Shop selling lovely fresh bread, milk and other basic provisions.
Good children's play area opposite restaurant and shop.
Free wi-fi available in the central area of the site, slow when busy. Nice walks from campsite, lake with communal campfire and BBQ area.
Although the site was full there was never any problem with hot water, facilities always very clean, owners very helpful and efficient and spoke enough English for us to get by.
We booked online and although no deposit was taken everything was as expected.
Can recommend a meal at the nearby hotel Langenwaldsee - fairly expensive but delicious food. Not much German spoken or English translation on menus so bring your sense of adventure or a dictionary!
Camping fees include free public transport within the Black Forest Area - bus stop outside gets you into Freudenstadt in 15 mins. Lovely town: biggest market square in Germany, lots of outside cafes, gardens, fountains, supermarkets, banks etc.
Lots of circular forest walks around the local area, you can leave the car at the campsite. Shop has some free guides, we did walks from nearby Kniebis which included waterfalls, lakes and stunning views.
Other recommendations nearby during a stay: Shiltach (very pretty town, half timbered houses, cobbled town square); Wolfach - pretty river, beer gardens, cafe / bakery serves great snacks and salads as well as delicious cakes and ice-creams; Rodelbahn at Gultach - great fun for children and adults young and old: this is a down hill coaster ride but you can control the speed. Good value at E1. 50 a go.
Triberg - very touristy town, busy, parking hard to find but the walk around the waterfalls is worth it. The Dorotheenhutte at Wolfach - watch glass being blown and have a go at making a vase you can take away for E15.
The only reason we did not give a full 10/10 rating was due to the slightly sloping pitch with a tree root underneath and the fact that you have to get a bus or drive to the nearest town.
But if you want to be in the countryside and have a thick mattress or a caravan it would rate 10/10!
