We have stayed at this site twice. On both occasions really liked it.
Its not a site that has fantastic views of the fells but it is well placed for the North Lakes (Ullswater, Derwent Water, Bassenthwaite). No winding roads to negotiate. Easy access from A66. Sat nav took us to site no problems. It is only 10 mins in car to Penrith, if turn left out of site and carry straight on you will come to Morrisons supermarket in Penrith where you can fuel up and shop up. Dont try fueling up with van on as petrol station too small.
There are no showers, just a loo but we prefer these type of sites. It has electric hook up, water and chemical loo waste point. You could easily miss the chemical waste point. It is a metal grate in the concrete floor just inside the gateway to farmhouse. There are two keys to lift it up on the window ledge nearby. You can drive over it if you have a motorhome. This is the same disposal point for grey water.
You don't get bothered by the owners. Pitches are part hardstanding for van, grass for awning and car. One pitch is all grass. Enough room between each pitch. Electrics have been OK for us. Need booster for TV - think Lakes area is now all digital not a prob for our van, but could be for some of the older ones. You can recycle your waste, bins are by the entrance to the loo.
We will definitely be using this site again, it is only £8 a night for up to 6 people and your awning and its in the Lakes - bargain.

This is a very useful site, being the nearest to Penrith and the M6, and is easy to find, on the road to Greystoke. The 'site', if you can call it that, is narrow hardstandings along the side of the entrance road, easy to miss if you are looking ahead and not to the side! The hardstandings would benefit from being a bit wider especially in the wet conditions we had. There also doesn't appear to be a CWD, and we could never find anyone to ask. There is a loo and washbasin which were well kept.
We stayed 4 nights and would use the site again for a stopover especially, was £7, now £8, good value we thought. Also easy to get to the Lakes, especially the Ullswater area, go to Martindale for the red deer. Plenty of shops and pubs in Penrith.
