A little gem of a CL - set in an old walled garden. Everything about the site is slightly eccentric and charming from the cock pheasant strutting through the site to Mrs Harrison who belies her 80+ years.
There are no facilities other than EHU, water and CWD but the grassed area of the site is like a lawn and very well kept. Sutton Scarsdale is a quiet little hamlet in a great location for visiting Hardwick Hall, Bolster Castle and Chesterfield. The Peak District is only 30 minutes away. Do not overlook Sutton Scarsdale Hall, just across the road from the site, an eighteenth century ruined stately home now in the care of English Heritage.
The pitch price is now £14. 00 per night with £1. 00 per night awning charge.

A lovely safe site. Very close to Chatsworth and Hardwick Hall. The site is set within a charming if slightly eccentric walled garden on a grassed level area accessed through electronic gates from a country lane. The grass is kept short and cars are only allowed when unpacking and loading otherwise the car park is a short step away. There are no toilets or showers. But there is electrics, waste disposal and water all close by.
This is a 5 van site and is adult only and has a no dog policy, possibly because the owner has a cat. The owner is a wonderful octogenarian with boundless energy. She is really helpful and provides a great deal of material about the area. Definitely worth a visit.

Had 2 days here with 3 other vans uses and what a little gem of a site we found on our doorstep. If peace and quiet is what you want and pay for what you get this is the site for you it is set in walled grounds.
There are two site here a CL site which only takes 5 caravans and is the one we used but is very well kept and a big well kept grassed area around the back and both are reasonably level areas.
There are no showers here which if there was would only higher the charges of £10 p/night with only elec hookup with this site. Beryl the owner is a gem.
This is a adult only site and that's why it peaceful has we usually have the grand kids this us We would go here again and would recommend this site to anyone

Very happy to concur with Mrs. Bonce’s previous reviews, except to add firstly, that an unusually high amount of birdsong makes it an even nicer experience. Secondly, that there are now two separate touring fields within the old walls. The additional field has about 12 pitches; is level; well mown; well sheltered and is designated as ‘commercial’. It is just as pleasant a spot as the C.L field, but means that it is open to non members. Lastly to say that the owner, Mrs Harrison is a very nice lady.
To sum up: a little gem of a site as long as you have own sanitation.

An update on this site: winter price (October - March) £10, otherwise £8.50 which I think is fine, this site is so nice. There is now a signpost to the village where there was none previously so you won't get lost.
It is better to take the 2nd turn right from the main road when you have left the M1, that way you won't have to negotiate any bends in Heath village.
The best way to Chesterfield is to turn left out of the site and left at the roundabout onto the the A632, but don't attempt to tow this way, too many hills and bends.
Bolsover caravans has a better and cheaper shop than Chesterfield Caravans; you will be given a big folder of info if staying more than 1 night, directions to Bolsover Caravans is in it.
It is easy to get to Sherwood Forest, the Peak District and Sheffield and there is a 'Go Outdoors' shop near Sheffield United football ground.

This is a lovely site inside the walled garden of Sutton Scarsdale Hall, and has a coded security gate. The owners have gone to great lengths to keep it in character with many stone animals, elves and fairies etc dotted about. It is immaculately lawned but does get wet in heavy rain, however there is hardstanding available in the car park. If you do use the grass you are asked to leave your car in the car park.
It is only £7.50 per night, however has no facilities other than EHU and CWD. No shops or pubs nearby, nearest are at Heath village. Chesterfield is about 5 miles away.
The only downside is the lack of signposting to Sutton Scarsdale. From M1 junction 29, take A6175 (Clay Cross), tuen right signed Heath, about a mile past the village turn right (not signed), site is in Sutton Scarsdale opposite the hall.
