My family and I recently visited The Red Lion campsite for the weekend in July. And the weather was lovely which made the holiday more enjoyable, we pitched up our tent in what we thought was the best possible place in the field but then later discovered we were the only ones in the field! The facilities are ok as they had a static caravan for the shower and toilet block (none of the locks worked and didn't provide very warm water). But it is not child friendly, and being 13 it didn't help. The pub 'wasn't allowed to serve children a single glass of water' that didn't please me mum having to go to the bar every five mins! Overall it is a lovely setting but poor facilities and unfriendly owners let the campsite down.

Arrived at this location over Easter following motor racing event at nearby Oulton Park. This pub (and therefore campsite) has ceased trading and the future seems unclear according to locals. Shame, because location is ideal. There is a Cl very close to circuit entrance, but I needed to re-charge batteries after 3 days on circuit. Would recommend 'the Hollies' equally close by with full facilities.

Just come back from a enjoyable weekend camping at the red lion. The condition of the camping field was good even with the horrible weather we've been having lately. The campsite is sloping slightly, it has 5 electric hook ups, elsan point, cold water tap, there is one shower and one toilet that is situated in a static caravan. On the site it also has a small play park The owner Lindsey and the locals are friendly and made us feel very welcome, would return to this site again

I thought it would be time to give a full review of this pub/campsite,
My first visit to the Red lion was in August, spent 5 days there, since then we have been about 6 times.
Our first initial thoughts were NOT BAD; We spent 5 days there and never looked back.
The site is quite small it has 5 EHC points But if you have a spliter the site is good for 10 EHC. No problem.
We have had a Bongo meet there and had 17 bongos with awnings bit of a sqeeze.
There is a fixed mobile home that is used for the toilet and has a shower.
Could do with more toilets/showers but I know they have plans to make more with the cabin at the end of the field.
The pub itself if fantastic The food is second to none, they have a special on through the week til 7pm 3 course meal £10,
They even do a full breki on request the night before for £5, :)
The locals are very very friendly and can have good fun with them.
They have log fires that burn when it gets cold and its like help yourself to the wood if it gets low.
They make you feel very welcome and will go out of there way to help with the camping if you need anything.
Shops are about 2 miles away in Tarporley.
There is loads to do around, Oulton park 1 mile away, Delamere forest.
There is a small play area for kids next to the pub in the beer garden, that is ok for campers to play on until the pub opens then they need to be supervised by an adult.
You are situated in the countryside and fields are round you with sheep.
Overall, we love the place, Rate it out of 10 give it 8.
