Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff,
On site restaurant and bar very good,
Short drive to local town for all major supermarkets.
Epinal is well worth a visit as is the American Cemetery.

We turned up at this site on spec and paid for two nights with Camping Cheques. We found the site was quite empty and we had the choice of many pitches. The facilities were not the best we have seen but by far not the worst. We stayed at the top of the site away from the mobile homes so didn't really hear much noise. The lake was lovely and we had a good walk right round which is about ten kilometres. Cycled on the canal path towards Epinal which was very picturesque and we ended up staying for 4 nights. We would return again if in that area. Good value for the price of a camping cheque.

Having read the review from Dirksdonuts, I can only fully concur with what he said. We made the mistake of reserving a pitch in advance for five nights. The lake and facilities seemed ideal. We paid two nights deposit (67 Euros)and on our arrival we instantly got the impression that the site was run down. Because of this, we then told reception that we would only be staying for two nights and they stated that we would still owe about 17 Euros tax.
Basically our pitch was on a roundabout surrounded by 'cabins'. The pitches are small and unkempt, as is the rest of the site. Toilets and showers were grubby and in need of a deep cleaning and makeover. The 'lake' is a reservoir, which was pretty empty, muddy and unattractive, not at all as portrayed by the website. On our second night, we were treated to an all night party by some French campers, but there were no staff to deal with the problem. We couldn't wait to get away the next day and on going to reception found a lady who could not work the computer and had no idea whether we owed money or not. She ended up photocopying my booking form and that was it. On reaching home, we had a letter from them saying that they had debited my credit card for another 17 Euros for tax. That made it 42 Euros per night! This place is a shabby, run down, badly managed site and we were only too happy to be away from it. We ended up at a fantastic site in Luxembourg, clean, modern, friendly and only 16 Euros a night. How Lac de Bourcey can justify their charges is quite beyond me. I am not one who complains easily, but believe me this place merits it. You have been warned!

We visited this site off the back of the site being a Kawan Site which are normally of a high standard. A four star rating is hard to achieve.
We travelled from a Kawan Site near Troyes so had first hand experience of what their standards are for a four star.
On arrival the lady at the reception was very helpful showing us on the map where our pitch was. We drove through a quarter full site wondering why there were so many spaces? We soon found out!
The pitch we were given was right next to two very large trailer tents that actually spread over the pitch we had been given. Not a problem, we placed our caravan on the pitch with both neighbours wondering how I was ever going to squeeze a 7. 25m van between them. Easy as we has a motor mover! Thank goodness.
Before we fully set up the children aged 8 & 12 wanted to use the toilets as normal with children. I am pleased they did as both came back frowning asking 'how long are we here and do we have to stay'
They said the toilet blocks were dirty and smelt. We decided to have a look just in case it was just one toilet. No they were right they were disgusting! All of them. It looked like they needed cleaning badly. One further inspection there was only one toilet that had a seat and no paper in any of them. The paper situation we have grown to expect in France however the seats are normally there. The showers looked really run down and in need of a refurbishment.
Time to check out the bar and other areas.
The bar smelt of cigarettes badly masked by strong smelling sprays and odour blocks. This area also needs some money spending on it. The bar prices were expensive again we could live with that! 3 euros for a coke for the children each is too much but as we could supply our own at the caravan then we didn't need to sit in the bar area.
The pool looked fine but small and clean.
The rest of the site looked tired and run down. Time to visit the reception and ask about the toilets. After a conversation with the staff and no way of resolving it, time to leave. Back to he caravan and manoeuvre it out of the tight spot! In front of both neighbours who were wondering what was going on.
This site is very tight for driving in and out with a caravan. Be warned!
Would we return? Not a chance. What a dirty grubby site that needs some of the expensive nightly charge spending back on the site itself!,
Would we recommend it. Sadly not due to the conditions that we saw for the hour we stayed. Yes we lost the 107 euro deposited that they refused to return and yes we drove for two hours to a fantastic site that we luckily knew we had visited before.

This was the first camping trip to France with my wife and 10 year old son and we all loved it. On arrival at the site reception we were met by very friendly English speaking staff who checked us in and gave me a map and directions to our pitch. The pitches are relatively flat with a slight slant as its on a hill, they are separated by well pruned bushes to the side and rear of the pitch. We were on pitch 54 which was central to the ablutions block and sports pitches, most of the pitches have tall trees giving shade to the pitches however the site wasn't full and everyone seemed to move tables and chairs into other vacant pitches to catch the sun which didn't seem a problem to the very friendly staff. As this was my first time camping in France I made the big mistake of not having a European EHU converter but this wasn't an issues as they sold them in the on site shop but I didn't need to buy one as the reception staff borrowed me one and just asked me to return it when we left.
Great heated outdoor swimming pool and the views around the lake are breathtaking, we went out on our bikes on a daily basis and had some very pleasant bike rides.
I am a keen carp angler and took my fishing gear with me, I bought my licence on the Internet for around 30 euro for a weeks fishing. If you feed the ducks of the dam wall you will see the carp competing with the ducks for the bread carp averaged around 30lb by the look of them.
Toilets and shower block was very clean and tidy no toilet roll, water was always hot and the facilities were plentiful. Washing machines and tumble dryers were also available with tokens bought at reception.
Plenty of shops in Epinal which was a 15 minute drive away but the on site shop had all the essentials if you need anything in a hurry with fresh bread delivered daily.
We spent 7 nights at this site and could have quite easily stayed another week. A fabulous holiday had by all and would recommend as a great relaxing site either for a stay or stop over.
We had a great fireworks display on the last night down at the lake which I believe is an annual event on 31st August.

The campsite couldn't be friendlier booking us in and gave us two plots (the second being free!) to park our small boat. We were allowed to sail it at the local sailing club after enquiring and this was free too. There had been a lot of rainfall prior to our stay so the lake was high but there was still some beach areas. We enjoyed the swimming pool which was great for the children as were the bouncy castles. The lake was lovely and restaurants good. The campsite restaurant was good too. We enjoyed our visit but felt the campsite was expensive and more suited to a 3 star site. Toilet blocks were good and always clean despite poor reviews on eurocampings site. Nancy was definitely worth a visit.

This is a very good site overlooking the large lake, it has a nice relaxed pace to it, the pitches are big for tents and caravans and all have electric hook up and are fairly flat with shaded areas some more than others.
They have a super restaurant with lovely food and not over priced, the shop on site have most things you require. The toilets and washrooms are plentiful with hot water free.
The lake is a must for fishermen as the guys fishing it was catching 30lb plus carp.
All in all a nice site for all.

We really enjoyed this site, although the weather was great which may have coloured our judgement.
Great cycle track to Epinal and nearby theme park (for 9 year olds at least) at Fraispertuis City.
Lake was warm and great for dingy's / swimming and the Vosges generally very picturesque.
Swimming pool was small, but large enough to cool down in. The on site restaurant was good, but there are others in the vicinity that are cheaper. Still, we were lazy and the convenience was worth the slightly higher prices.
