This is a very friendly and very clean and very fresh campsite. Always looks so neat and tidy. Nikki and Neil are truely the kindest people you could meet. Plenty to see and do, and again Nikki and Neil more than happy to help you in your choices of the area. The campsite itself has a real new homely feel about. Toilets and showers are immaculate. Views from any pitch are wonderful, combine this with the goats, chickens and sheep it's a great place to relax but also have fun.

Hello Campers
We have now levelled 4 of our 8 pitches and the trees are producing a lot more shade as they are getting bigger. 65 tons of soil have been put into the pitches to make them level. I have also built small retaining walls to hold the soil. Have a look at the work on our face book page. Camping chez rambaud
Thanks so much for all your reviews and also for returning to our 'well loved' campsite. Merci Beaucoup
Happy camping.
Neil & Nicki

We booked this site months before our visit
We arrived mid-afternoon, after a long drive, and were welcomed by Niki, who gave us a warm friendly welcome.
This site slopes quite a lot, and for caravans there are chocking blocks available. Peter informed us he will be levelling the pitches for next season (They have been here 8 years). All the pitches are in-a-line on the East side of a very open field. The main field has no trees for shade. There is one young tree near each pitch, which are not large enough for much shade, and are slow growing types. It can be very hot in July and August in this region, we hit temperatures up to 40'C. Each pitch does have a large picnic table with a sun umbrella.
The facilities were spotless and electric hook-up is available on each pitch. There is a reception area for campers use, where there are some nice chairs and a small library. Homemade and homegrown produce is available to purchase, also a herb garden which we could help ourselves to.
We were shown to the smallest pitch on the site, although there were 3 available, which apparently had repeat customers arriving later in the week. On our pitch we just managing to squeeze our medium 4 berth frame tent in. With no room for the car down the side, or guy ropes! We felt hemmed in, as at either side were big twin axle Caravans with 4 wheel drive vehicles parked at their fronts (no room down their sides). On the plus side we didn't need a windbreak!
The surrounding area has plenty to do and see. A lake for swimming is only a few minutes drive away. Oradour, the famous wartime village that was destroyed, is about 20 minutes drive away. There are many local markets to visit and explore.
Unfortunately we did not stay our full 6 nights we'd paid for. We left after 4 nights due to the lack of shade and size of our particular pitch.

Nicki and Neil made us very welcome to their beautiful site and home for our 5 day stay. There are now 8 pitches with electric hook-up in large delineated (hedged) plots.
Those nearest the wash and toilet facilities are well shaded by trees but less so on the south side, where each has a robust (wooden) table and bench seating arrangement for which a large parasol can be provided by Nicki.
The site is currently on a very slight slope on which caravanners and motor-home users are likely to use levelling wedges (but Neil apparently has future plans to permanently level each).
The camping area is very well tended and yet still manages to give an impression of being amongst meadow areas with their small flock of 4 sheep in a neighbouring field and selected grassland areas being reserved for wildflower and natural growth. Don't be surprised to find the free-range hens visiting your pitch - they are free-range!
The toilet and wash facilities are convenient and spotless and are eco-friendly for both waste and washing products in the available washing machine.
The surrounding area provides ample opportunity for circular off road cycle rides of varying length and demands.
The Château de La Rochefocauld is well worth a visit (€10/adult) and included a tour around some of the private areas and library (in French & English).
We have no reservations in recommending this to others and hope to return ourselves. Thanks.

We have just returned from our second stay. It is a small site. 6 pitches all with electric hookup. All facilities are spotless shower & toilet & one for disabled, 2 sinks for washing up, washing machine & use of line to dry. Nicki & Neil are a fantastic couple so friendly & always ready to help with any questions or advice. There are animals on site sheep, goats & chickens. There is the opportunity to buy eggs, homemade preserves & some homegrown produce. The views of the surrounding countryside are amazing especially the sunsets & there are many birds. Lots of walks close & lots of other attractions lakes for swimming etc, historical buildings & towns such as Limoges within driving distance. If you love the countryside & being close to nature this is for you. There is a supermarket at St Mathieu 15mins away & you can walk to the nearest village Les Salles Lavaoguyon where there is a bakery & a lovely church - there is often an exhibition on there.
