This is an absolutely beautiful site if you are on the right pitch. The site is built around several lakes with caravans and chalets set round the edges. It is a largely chalet site but the ten or so caravan pitches around the lake are a dream. Several people were fishing from their pitch. It might be dangerous with small children as there is a lot of unfenced water. There are other pitches further away from the lake in a block by reception. On the lake are ducks, grebes and moorhens. There is bread available to order from reception where they speak a little English and Wifi at 3E for three hours. There is also a swimming pool, play area and mini golf. At various times we heard chickens and a donkey and at dusk the owls calling.
The site is well situated for visiting the Somme battlefields and grave yards but there is nothing in the nearby village.

Site in rural France with level marked out pitches. Some next to fishing lake/pond. Unisex toilet block with the usual only warm showers. Wifi on site too 3 euros for 3 hours.
Just a short walk/cycle down to the river which was great for walking/cycling. We cycled to the Australian memorial along the river.
There is a large Super you and intermarche in Albert. A good base for exploring the World war memorials etc.
Site about 120 miles from Calais along the N1 (we don't use toll roads) and took about 3. 5hours towing a caravan.
Amiens is about half an hour away with it's lovely cathedral.
We've used this site a few times and will definitely return.

I liked this site and would be happy to go back again.
The pool is small and cold but when we were there it was very hot, so this was welcome. Mind you, you have to take your shoes off outside the pool area and the decking was so hot it burned your feet!
The sanitaires were good and clean, the loos had loo paper as well!
The river Somme is a 5 minute walk away and is a lovely riverside walk or cycle track. We wanted to go to Amiens to see the Cathedral light show which was stunning, and I would definitely recommend it. As has been said there is nothing in Sailly itself, but the countryside around is lovely. I also recommend a drive up the valley to see the veiwpoints at Curlu.
Quiet, pleasant, nice. With resident water voles, if you are lucky enough to see them!

Well, we booked this site for 2 nights in advance and ended up staying for 16!
Being able to speak some French is useful, the owner speaks some English, but not a huge amount, so using a combination of the two we got by nicely. Reception was open in the morning and late afternoon/evening with some local tourist info available, a few provisions and info on the local bread delivery service (must be booked in advance).
Pitches were spacious with hookups, water was available at small points relatively close to each pitch. Washrooms (unisex) were clean and showers always hot.
The pool was a good size, but on the cold side (note-men must wear trunks, shorts were not permitted in the pool area). A bouncy castle was available for children at the start of our stay, which was then changed for a trampoline by the end. Fishing is available on site, but you have to purchase a permit from the fishing shop in Corbie beforehand.
Sailly le Sec doesn't have any facilities, however other local villages had bar/post office/boulangerie facilities. The local town, Corbie, is about 10 minutes drive and provided all other necessities (can also highly recommend the tour of the local boulangerie with the tourist info office).
The site was excellent for exploring the many World War 1 cemeteries, located between Amiens and Albert.

This site is a little gem. We arrived at 12. 30pm so the reception was closed (the French do like their long lunch breaks)when it opened at 2pm we were shown all the available pitches, some by the lake some not. We chose a pitch on the driveway up to their house. The pitch was medium sized with water and electricity alongside.
At 18 euro per night this was good value. The toilet block was kept spotless with free showers and cubicles large enough to turn round in and your clothes did not get wet. The pool is a good size but men must wear swimming trunks not shorts. There is nothing in the village, but a short walk along the Canal du Somme and you are at Sailly Laurette where there are 2 bars.
The area was the scene of many WW1 battles as the numerous military cemeteries show.
We are thinking of coming back next year but with a couple of bikes so that we can explore further along the canal in either direction

Used this site as a base for touring the Somme battlefields and also because it accepted camping cheques. The site is mainly used by statics there being only 30 touring pitches. However the statics and tourers are quite separate. Quite a pleasant site with pitches in marked off hedged areas or some stretched out alongside the on site lake. The latter don't have much shade but are very large indeed. They do have frequent visits by the resident ducks looking for food. Unfortunately they proved to be very noisy, especially early morning. All pitches have 4amp ehu. We had heard the facilities were rather basic. We didn't find this so. The toilet/showers seemed reasonably new and modern although fairly small. The proprietor was very pleasant and spoke some English and nothing seemed to be a bother to her. We did feel the description in the camping cheques brochure was a little over done re the facilities. Takeaway, grocery and bread store were very basic indeed. Bread had to be ordered the night before, not a problem, the grocery store was a few basic items on a few wooden shelves and not sure about the takeaway unless it was the microwave oven for heating things up. The swimming pool was small but very pleasant and spotlessly clean with lilo beds and very expensive wooden table and easy chairs.
A small jacuzzi was also available. One downside to the facilities is the Elsan emptying point. It would appear to have been built in with the washing up sinks and was now not used.
You have to use the one at the motorhome dumping point which can prove a problem trying to hit the small bore entry pipe with the spout of a Thetford loo. Maybe this will be addressed shortly. The site is only about 300yds from the River Somme with pleasant riverside walks. The village of Sailly-le-Sec is very small with no facilities whatsoever. The nearest town being either Corbie or Albert for major shopping. To any fishermen the site must be ideal with on site fishing lake and the river Somme very close by. All in all a very pleasant site in a beautiful rural area with easy access to the battlefields. But alas those noisy ducks!
On going improvements mean there is some building work going on and I understand this is to be a restaurant which will be a boom to this site.
