Stopped here for a night for a change whilst travelling back north.
The receptionist was a young woman, friendly, allocated me a pitch, but said if it wasn't suitable to choose another in an area marked on a map. It was very quiet, few people there, and as the allocated pitch was too shaded we chose one nearby. I noticed a number of later arrivals were issued with our original pitch, and moved.
The sanitary block was close, the only one that appeared to be open. Nice and clean, heated, and quiet.
They don't have any hand out maps of the town, but I was shown on a map how to find a supermarket in the town centre. However we remembered a supermarket on the outskirts which we cycled to, it is now in a large shopping complex.
I don't know why the site was so quiet, maybe with the large number of chalets, pods etc it is more popular during the French holidays.

Had a great break with the kids in France at autumn half term. A great setting in the woods, with a good fishing lake next door. You can buy day tickets for the fishing at the campsite reception.
Very friendly staff and locals, as we normally find in France.
The place was almost deserted due to us visiting in October, but still the toilets and showers were kept clean and the showers were good.
A great place for cycling, fishing, walking and presumably playing in the outdoor pool in summer. (not in October).

Reviewers - mature couple with campervan and bikes.
We haven't stayed at this site since it became part of the Huttopia group, it has changed somewhat over the years.
However, the situation is the same, in a lovely woodland area next to a lake. The area is well used by joggers, cyclists and dog walkers. The access is very close to the main road into the town, very convenient and easy to find, you follow the road round the edge of the forest, past a small industrial area.
We have found the Huttopia sites very similar, with young friendly receptionists. We were invited to choose our own pitch from a particular area. The pitches had been affected by rain, but we found a flat grassy one, none were particularly close to the sanitary block, only 1 was open and they are mixed sex. There are lots of different styles of static accommodation available.
The last few reviews give a good description of the site. We only stayed for 1 night but had a cycle through the woods into the town.
The site is in the ACSI discount scheme

We booked this site as it was near a train line to Paris (and it turned out, Versailles) so that we could visit for the day. We also chose it, in preference to other (closer to Paris) sites in the hope that the traffic wouldn't be too manic.
We chose well on both fronts and with the bonus of it being a nice site, albeit pricey. We had a 30-40 minute walk to the station where there were very frequent trains to Paris. The town of Rambouillet was lovely and easy to walk/cycle to, as was the forest surrounding the site.
The site itself was busy and buzzy but clean and fairly friendly. We went on a motorhome pitch -we paid extra to get a larger pitch with a picnic table which we were glad of when we saw some nearby 'basic' pitches outside the toilets on a scrubby patch. The toilet blocks were large, very clean and had lots of plug sockets.
It was quite 'twee' with the Huttopia branded signage etc but that was kinda funny. The pool area was lovely and an unusual eco idea.
I'd visit again for the convenience of the train etc but, as the site itself is better suited to families with small children, not for any other reason.

We’ve visited this site twice over the last few years and have seen it in very different conditions. We have used it as a base to visit Paris and for this it is fantastic. The station is a 5 minute drive away and then you are on a train straight into Paris or Versailles. The town of Rambouillet is nice, but I wouldn’t come here especially unless you want to visit Paris. We would probably only use this site for a stopover in the future. We found this site to be on the expensive side, but we were very glad of the facilities last time we visited as it did not stop raining the whole time we were there. This is where the main building came in useful. There is a lovely bar / restaurant there with a wood burning stove which I spent a lot of time huddling against. The pizzas & coffee are especially good & one evening there was a storyteller (working in French and English) who kept us entranced even though we had no children with us. You can sit in the bar playing cards or reading when you need to shelter from the rain. You can even have your breakfast there which looked amazing if you fancied a treat! On our previous visit we sat out on the terrace next to the pool drinking beer, eating pizzas & listening to low key live music – heavenly. This is a very civilised way to camp as long as you ignore the rain…
The pitches are among the trees. If you are lucky enough to visit when the weather is good, then you will need to bring rock pegs for the ground as it is bare forest floor rather than grass. If the weather is bad, it just turns into a total swamp – bring your wellies. If you are close to the edge of the campsite, then the sound of animals moving around at night can be alarming or interesting depending on your point of view!
The pool is a lovely green natural pool & we used it a lot when we visited in good weather. There is a main toilet / shower block & some little ‘satellite’ ones around the site. The showers are ‘family style’ showers & have loads of space. The main shower block is thankfully heated and was full of people trying to dry out soggy sleeping bags on our last visit.
This site appears to attract people who are only stopping over or staying for a short visit & so there is a bit of a transient feel to the place. We had a lot of noise one night, but we mentioned it to the staff & it soon was quiet again. There is an industrial factory nearby (although you can’t see it) which woke us up a couple of times the first time we visited. However, we never heard it on the second visit – maybe it depends which part of the site you are on, or maybe the sound of the constant rain drowned it out… This is definitely not a peaceful site, when the weather is good, children are out on their bikes enjoying themselves & exploring & people are always arriving or leaving. However, this gives the site a bit of life. We bonded with our lovely Dutch neighbours over football (it was the middle of the World Cup) and the misery of the constant rain!
One thing REALLY annoys me about this site. They make a lot of the fact that they have a natural ethos & that cars should be left in the car park. However, everybody ignores this and cars are rolling round the site the whole time endangering children & disturbing campers. Why is this rule not enforced by the staff??
I would probably visit this site again, but only for a night or two at the most.

We are a couple in our 50s and stayed here for one night on our way down to Spain and again on our way back. We found it very pleasant and would definitely use it again.
As the site is in a forest we weren't at all aware of there being an industrial zone nearby. The only environmental issue may be the proximity of a couple of lakes/large ponds and therefore mosquitoes. They weren't a huge problem by any means but we did get bitten a few times here, more than at any other place on our 3 week holiday.
Loos - English style, paper provided, unisex, outdoor, kept very clean. Site wasn't anywhere near full when we were there so suspect that provision may be slightly insufficient if site at full capacity.
Showers - clean, some queuing at peak times, push-button, v short intervals, adequate hot water, not enough space for stuff.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Pitches - variable size and accessibility, private and separated by hedges, v shady, ground quite rough, imagine it would be quite muddy during heavy rain.
Shop - v small, no fresh veg. Didn't use restaurant or pool.
The town of Rambouillet looked very pleasant and there is a big Carrefour nearby.
There are lovely forest walks and bike trails so would probably stay a few days next time to make the most of it and to visit Rambouillet.

Stayed here 4 nights. Thought we'd booked over the phone but on arrival our booking was recorded as unconfirmed - at a different Huttopia site! Despite this the staff proved very helpful, squeezing us in anyway. We had wanted to be fairly near Versailles which was about 30 minutes drive away, close enough for us. Rambouillet proved a lovely place with a very helpful tourist office. Went on pleasant flat cycle paths through woods, visited chateau and gardens, also lots to see and do within a short drive e. G. A butterfly house, sculpture garden, etc.
Site itself is within woods, rough but level ground, not hardstanding, its quiet and peaceful. Some pitches have picnic tables, not all have electrics, a few have water at the pitch. Can be a bit difficult to drive large outfit into smaller pitches. There is no internet access or easy satellite dish set up (too many trees), however in the office a single computer is available and the staff helped us order and print tickets for Versailles Palace. Office sells bread and milk if ordered the previous day. Evenings the cafe / bar is open. Toilet / shower blocks are a bit rough and ready but all work well. No washing machine. Did not use pool but other families kids were enjoying themselves.
Overall we enjoyed it but its certainly not commercial or well appointed with mod cons and might not suit all.

Used this as a stopover on our way back to Calais. Not very impressed. It was all very formula. The site is in a very unattractive industrial area.
The pool was nice enough but only a very small shallow section for small children.
The pitch we were allocated was really awkward to manoeuvre our caravan onto and extremely small. The staff seemed inexperienced in the needs of a caravanner.
We had a very uninspiring meal in the restaurant. One of our children was actually sick a couple of hours later which may have been because the meal was quite heavy.
There were few other guests so no atmosphere.
I will say that the washblocks were amazing. Very large and attractive, and spotless.
As we didn't stay long it's difficult to give a full review, but from the brief time we spent here we wouldn't particularly want to return.

Stayed here on the way to the Hoek of Holland from the Dordogne. Quite a different experience. Friendly staff - a young girl on golf like buggy took us to our pitch which was clearly defined by lots of shrubbery. There is so much shrubbery it is quite easy to get lost on way back from the loo! There is a pool for youngsters - adequate shower facilities and everything kept very clean. There appeared to be lots of activities laid on - much of which included in the price. As it was only an en route stop cannot comment on the surrounding area but there is a shop on site which sells the basics and we placed an order for baguettes and pain au chocolat for the morning which was duly delivered and beautifully fresh. I think Huttopia is a bit of a concept and not sure I quite get it but a large multi national crowd seemed to enjoy it.
