 We stopped here for one night. We hadn't booked and they had space for us. It's about 10 minutes drive from exit 30 of the A89 motorway. The area is heavily forested and hilly.
The campsite is part of the 'paradis' group and it has a lot of on site accommodation. The man at reception was very friendly and told me to chose whichever pitch I wanted, he didn't need us to come back and tell him which one we picked, as they would normally ask you to do.
We picked a pleasant pitch of a very good size in the camping area, surrounded by mostly French campers, caravans and tents.
All of the facilities were located together. The sanitary facilities were separate for male and females, with one block for sinks and showers and another for toilets. There were seats on the toilets and toilet paper provided.
The swimming pool was very small, it had a retractible roof, we didn't use it. There was a good games room with air hockey, table football, computer games, etc.
There was a restaurant selling the usual pizzas, burgers, etc. Outside on the terrace, a small stage was set up and there was an evening entertainment programme, Monday to Friday.
The lake was about a 10 minute walk from the campsite. It was very well done, there was a beach and sitting out area, a picnic area, with 2 bar/ restaurants, a very good play area and a boules arena. Unfortunately, there were signs saying that swimming was not allowed in the lake. I spoke to the lifeguard and he explained that there was bacteria in the water and swimming had been stooped until this was cleared.
There was a municipal swimming pool at the lake, it had a waterslide and looked very nice, although we didn't have time to use it. It was €3 per person entry fee. There were marked out walking trails through the forest at the lake.
We stooped at a small shop near the campsite that was also an épicerie, it was well stocked, especially with local bottled beer.
Overall, this is a nice family site, located East of Clermont Ferrand, near the motorway and would make good stop if coming from Provence, the Ardeche, etc. And would be pleasant to spend a few nights, especially if the water in the lake becomes suitable for swimming.
