Clean facilities, plenty of space, relaxed atmosphere. Bonus of being able to have an open fire.

Really great location, supermarket within a few minutes drive but the campsite location is far enough away from roads to feel rural and peaceful.

Reception locked on arrival, but just set up camp and really friendly lady called Donna was soon there to welcome us and check us in.

Booked a fairly last minute bank holiday weekend at this site, mainly because it was one of only three sites that replied and was in the best area for us. Setting up was fairly easy, the site is two fair sized fields with a note on the fence saying pitch up round the edge and someone will be with you before 6, which they were.

The site itself is fairly sloped so you will need to consider that when you pitch, we were lucky that we were on a fairly flat bit but others in my group were quite slanted. The facilities are also at the bottom of the hill.

For the potential amount of people that they could have there camping at any one time the facilities were inadequate, but I never saw them dirty nor did I see a queue.

The staff that I interacted with were very friendly and the fact that you can have open fires throughout the site was a great bonus.

All in all we had a nice stay, and I would go again if I could be guaranteed a flat pitch.

Seems expensive for what you get, toilets/showers are functional, reasonably clean, with some warm water. Staff on site during daytime.

It's not big on rules, pitch up where you like, large groups allowed and noise at night is unregulated. So if that suits you then all good, but for familys like us the loud music and shouting into the early hours was not what we wanted.

Allowing open fires was nice.

POSITIVES - It's near Hastings. Supermarket is close by. Some good sites nearby such as Battle, vineyards etc.

NEGATIVES - Pricey. Facilities are poor. Ladies: 3 loos, 3 showers, only 2 sinks (hand-washing, teeth brushing) for the entire campsite. Not cleaned regularly. Loo roll ran out, sometimes. Showers were cold for the 3 days we were there. Staff are there for a few hours in the daytime only, that's it. So, there's no one to ask, report to or get help if there's a problem eg the loud music till past midnight. Open fires are allowed, hence burnt patches everywhere on the grass. This campsite is basically a free for all, no rules, which is fine, if that's your thing.

Staff are great and I can't fault them at all.

I think this site is very pricey for a field with really inadequate facilities. The showers and toilets weren't very clean, you cant use the showers at any time because of lack of hot water and there aren't really enough toilets for amount of people. I have stayed for less money at other sites that have far better facilities.

Good site for exploring the local area.

We booked here at short notice for bank holiday weekend, and they still had spaces as it is a large field. The site is close to Battle, Hastings and Bexhill, and there were nice country walks around the site. However, the site itself is just not up to the standard you would expect. We paid £30 per night for a family with a small tent and a car, the most I have paid yet for a campsite. The showers were only hot for the first few people, but I went for a shower at 7am and it was cold. Just not enough toilets, showers or hot water for the amount of people camping on a bank holiday weekend. No toilet roll, dirty floors in showers and no mop available to mop them out. To make matters worse, when the lack of hot water was politely (honestly!) mentioned to the site owner, the response was dismissive. The staff clearly don't care about their customers, and it shows. I can see how the site would be good for large groups who want to make noise without being bothered, but there are so many sites a lot better for family camping.

Lovely site. So quite and peaceful. Toilets were clean and showers were clean and hot. Only one thing was the owners dog barking really loud at around 2:30 in the morning. Woke me and my son up. Lasted around half an hour. But apart from that brilliant stay. Would definitely come back. The ground was nice, bit of a slope. But only just a bit. Could do with the grass being cut as you get wet legs if going to the toilet/shower block after rained.

A large site, but did get pretty full over the sunny August weekend! Also, ground very sloping in places so some pitches better than others. Open fires are allowed and wood is sold - although this may have added to problems with noise at night (see below).

Facilities pretty basic - one shower per gender and toilets in a metal storage container. Cold water only for (outside) washing up. Having said that, we hardly had to queue for showers and they stayed hot. A new wooden block is in the process of being built which looks like it should be more comfortable.

Hastings is a drive away, but more usefully for us, Carr Taylor Vineyard is walkable, so we took full advantage of their wine-tasting

Our main problem was that the campsite was quite noisy all the time with music, shouting, singing (!) going on until the early hours - which seemed strange because it otherwise seemed to be very family-oriented. Although the girl in charge was friendly and helpful, she didn't really manage to do much about it, despite complaints from nearly all of the other campers!

A pity - on a quieter weekend, would certainly recommend.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Buckhurst and were very warmly welcomed.

The site is in a great location for campers to explore the surrounding area. It is a very short drive to Hastings, Battle and Seddlescombe with a number of activities.

The site has basic amenities but a new block is close to completion.

We had complete freedom to pitch where we wanted to, the site is on a slight incline but due to the size of the field there are many level areas if this is an issue.

Local road noise is limited to rush hour and never reached a level that we found obtrusive.

We were very happy with the site and will definitely be returning for another stay soon.

We have just got home from 3 nights staying at Buckhurst Farm. When we first arrived and saw the very dated and tiny mobiles for shower and toilet blocks we were a little apprehensive.

After 3 days we concluded that the blocks were far from ideal - the sinks had no plugs, the only hot water other than the two showers was from a wall mounted water heater in the ladies mobile. The water from that was scalding, and there was no way to mix it with cold without the aid of a plug! BUT they were always kept clean, by the pleasant staff at the site.

Despite this, the site had such a nice relaxed and friendly feel that we really didn't mind.

There is very little by way of facilities, no play area, no shop, no anything infact! We liked it for that though. The other campers all seemed like minded in that they were happy to be somewhere that allowed them the freedom to do what they wanted. Nobody took the mickey of the laid back attitude and it made for a very pleasant stay.

We were told a new shower block is planned for next year, which was nice to hear. We'd definitely go back there!
