Motorhome and caravan club 5 pitch cl. The ride here was lovely, although roads slightly scary in places, one track with passing places but it was an adventure.
Owners/ wardens were very friendly. The pictures on the website of the site were probably taken about 20 years ago as the site is a lot more mature, if not a little overgrown in places and actual pitches run at a slope so take your levellers.
All pitches although advertised as hard standing need some maintenance as they are very grassy and weedy. ECU and tap on each pitch though.
Toilet block is about 5 mins walk away and shared with the public from the fishery but we were ok as we use our own anyway. The scenery and lakes are beautiful.
Hubby did a spot of fly fishing, unfortunately didn’t catch anything this time.
We will definitely be returning, as it is just what we like, peace and quiet. Thank you for a lovely weekend.

The site is a little off the beaten track and reached by a short trip on single track roads with passing places.
The pitches are reached by a short gravel track with one or two potholes.
However it is well worth it, it is quiet with just the usual dawn choruses.
There are plenty of walks and there is boat hire and fishing on the lake.
The facilities are reasonable and if there are any problems there is always someone there to rectify.
This is the second time of visiting the site and I am sure we will be back.
The rates are reasonable too.

Fabulous location if you are an experienced and careful driver as the route has single track roads with passing places.
We were there to chill and walk as a nearby event we were covering was postponed.
There are only 5 caravan pitches but well serviced, though the toilets and showers are a couple of hundred metres up the track.
It is part of a fishing and water adventure site with a large lake.
Hopefully booking again for November.

Couldn't have find a more peaceful site.
The only down side, grass not been cut between the pitches.
Toilets are available but about 1/4 mile from pitches and shared with fishermen.
They could do with a bit of tlc, especially the ladies.
Lovely walks around the smaller lake, we couldn't find a path around the larger lake.
This could be a great site but just need some time spent on it.
Having said that we would return, as we enjoy the peace and quiet.
For a bank holiday weekend we are the only unit on the site.

We stayed at Sweethope Lough for 4 nights in mid September 2012.
As the previous reviewer has stated, the site is fairly isolated but it is well set up with long terraced hardstandings, electric hookup and a dedicated water point to each pitch. No awnings are permitted, probably due to the narrow pitches and the boggy nature of the grass dividing strips between pitches. Views across the lakes from the pitch are stunning whatever the weather.
There are short walks around the two site lakes although, during our visit, the fishery & boating businesses were closed, so it was very quiet. Great Wanney Crags are close by where you may encounter some ”crag rats” attempting some quirkily names climbs such as Nosey Parker, Broken Wing & Willing to Sin! Some of the footpaths in this particular area were a bit of a quagmire giving us wet trousers, socks & boots!
The nearest shops appeared to be the hotel/filling station at Knowesgate on the A696 crossroads which is probably 3. 5 miles away.
We didn’t get to see the site manager at all, so we left our site fees in the fishery “returns” box at the entrance building.

Nice small site situated in Northumberland, a couple of miles off the A68, aboout 8 miles south of Otterburn. The site is very isolated and you have to travel by car for shops and pubs, which adds to the character of the place. It is set in the grounds of the Sweethope Lough fishery, which has two popular and well stocked lakes.
There are no toilet or shower facilities, but the pitches do have electricity and water supply. Views from the pitches are excellent, overlooking the lake and surrounding fells. There are two pubs on the A68, within about three miles of the site. We tried the The Gun Inn, which served good pub food.
Overall, excellent site, would certainly return.
