A lovely tidy and organised site!
Great level hard standing pitches and roadways, so could be used all year round. The CCEP, water and bins are all very well organised and the site is nicely planted with good hedges and well cut grass. Even the paths through the meadow are cut to help you find your way. Good approach directions too on the website.
The owners leave information about walks to Axminster / buses etc and it is about a mile and a half walk to Axminster by the longer quieter route.
Axminster has the famous River Cottage restaurant which is excellent and well-priced for the standard on offer. We also drank in the Axminster Inn, a friendly local pub in the centre of town with a nice small beer garden. Good real ales and dog friendly too.
If you arrive late everything is well organised and you get an envelope with your name on, detailing your pitch, the rules and the local walks. The rules are all fair enough and help to keep this attractive site in good order.
At £15 per night (Includes EHU but no showers / toilets) it is good value.
The only downside is some traffic noise from the A358. You can’t see cars due to the high hedge, but if you sit outside your van there is a fairly steady stream. It is not a problem when in your van. There is no pavement outside the site, hence the walking directions taking you out of the back on a much quieter and safer route.
We will definitely be back.

Ideal location for exploring Devon and Dorset. Well kept site and friendly owners Paula & John. Good pubs and restaurants to go for a meal. Great views across the ax valley and a great place to stay go into Seaton and then find trotters cafe for a excellent breakfast or roast dinner. Charmouth beach is a good place for you to take your dog for a run and pick up a few fossils

This is a fantastic site, with very easy access and beautifully laid out. The owners are very welcoming and keep the site extremely well maintained. The views are stunning and we thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night stay. There are so many places to check out whilst staying here and lots of lovely pubs with food available. We would definitely stay again!

Wonderful site. Our welcome was fantastic, as are the views from your pitch.
The entrance is well signed and plenty wide enough, even when turning left into it.
Top class hardstandings with hook up, although as we don't need this we weren't charged for it.
As others have said, you can sometimes hear traffic but it was never intrusive and quietened down early enough. The views well compensate.
It is well worth the 40 minute stroll into Axminster, through fields and along very quite lanes. You will be given a leaflet with directions.
If you want a pub walk straight ahead when you see the No Entry signs then look down side streets on your left, just before the small Co-op, for the Axminster Inn. A good find.
The small cafe on the station provides good value food and there is a larger Co-op here.
Chard Museum is well worth a visit, as is Lyme Regis. There are also National Trust properties nearby and the tram from Colyton to Seaton is good.
Try Paula's home made jams, too.

What a lovely little site this is, nice views over farmland and just a few minutes from Axminster (which can be reached by walking through a couple of fields and down a lane). The pitches are hard standing and big enough for both caravan and awning. No showers or toilets here so you need to be self sufficient.
There are a few rules to adhere to, all presented on a leaflet upon arrival. Visitors are welcome as are extra guests and cars, only one car allowed at the pitch which is nice as it stops a lot of noise and blocking of access and views. Our son stayed a few nights and parked at the bottom of the site as instructed, sadly one of or neighbours seemed to be exempt from this rule and often had 2 cars at their pitch, leading to extra noise late at night.
There is some road noise from the nearby A35, some nights worse than others depending on wind direction, not enough to bother us though.
Visited Seaton but did not enjoy it too much, Lyme Regis however was very pretty. I am sure we will return to this well maintained and friendly run site, 9 stars only because rules did not appear to be upheld for our neighbour who revealed they pay for a seasonal pitch, otherwise a top little site.

Management response: We do not have seasonal pitches here, we are a 5 site with a 28 day restriction, I know who their neighbours were and they have been visiting every month this year for 1-3 weeks as their son has moved to the area. If we had been informed that there was a problem with an extra car we would have dealt with it straight away. We do try to keep all our visitors happy! |

Stayed for seven days, wish it could have been longer. The site owner is the best you could wish for running the site, well maintained with hardstanding for caravan and awning, despite some very wet weather the ground stayed good,
a tesco with petrol within 1 mile at Axminster along with a full range of other shops and services. Used this site to visits along the coast and local towns.
Porch at house has information leaflets on local bus services and places to visit also free range eggs, home made jams available with honesty box for money.
Thanks for lovely stay and the rest of your family for the effort put in to keep the standards on this site high.

A really lovely site, and very well manicured by the owners. Beautiful views, pretty quiet (a little road noise, but not enough to spoil the site - mainly tractors), handsome bovines in the field next door!
Paula is a very dedicated owner - keeping an eye on elderly campers, and even cooking one couple meals after they had been involved in an accident!
The location is excellent for Lyme Regis, Seaton, the Jurassic coast and Dartmoor, and Exeter is only half an hour away if you need your city fix. Loads to see and do in the locality, and cream teas to be had everywhere you go.
Don't forget to take your rock pegs if you are putting an awning up. Lots of recycling boxes, which is good. For sale - lovely home made jams and chutneys, eggs and scrummy home made fudge. Fabulous

An excellent and spacious site with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and yet close to the shops at Axminster and Seaton.
Paula is very friendly and obviously took great pride in presenting the site at its very best.
Lovely walks over the fields to Trinity Hill and coast walks just a couple of miles away. Fresh eggs, cakes and home-made fudge are available and extremely scrummy!
Site probably not suitable for young children but the peace and quiet certainly suited me. Will definitely be returning.

This site was a last minute booking as the site we planed to stay at turned out to be closed even though it advertised being open all year. The site was easy to find with a large entrance to site. Clean and well laid out. The owner was really helpful and friendly. Beautiful views and close to Axminster. Shame we could only stay for one night but will definitely be returning.

The site is very easy to find and access. Its spacious and well laid out and looked after. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful (returned my initial call within 2 minutes!). The facilities are limited but as long as you are self sufficient this really isnt a problem. All in all a lovely site with helpful friendly people. The addition of 3 hard standings just adds to this site for this time of year and puts it ahead of others in the area that were closed due to waterlogged pitches.
