One word describes this site: Peaceful. We stayed for 3 nights and would have stayed longer but work beckoned. Great little 5 van site, a grass field with a stone drive. The grass was uncut but this added to the beauty of the site, hills and fields all around. Water, toilet disposal and rubbish only, no showers but they would spoil this site. Cyril is the friendliest owner you will find, I had to go and find him to pay him before we left. We did plenty of walks straight from the site, up through the 'gutter', through the woods and down to fell foot. Or go in the other direction through fiddlers wood to the beach at Greenodd. The site has some small stables and it was nice watching the horses being walked etc.
We have added this site to out list of favourites and will be back soon.

Have just come back from 2 nights on this site. Was a bit concerned about the remote location at first but we had a lovely time despite the weather. Lots of room for the kids to play, and the owners couldn't be nicer or more helpful. They suggested we go to a local park which might sound a bit dull but it was a brilliant choice for the kids.
Play area was fabulous and it was lakeside with vertical wall climbing which the grandson loved. Will definitely be going back, possibly to go to Cartmel races which is just down the road.

We stayed here for 5 nights over the Bank Holiday weekend. It was not our first choice of site, but the others in the area we tried were fully booked - in fact we got the last pitch here.
This is a basic site - a field with electric hook-ups, water, chemical disposal and bins - just off the main A590 trunk road, with reasonably easy access.
The setting is rural, with views over fields and trees, the silence broken mainly by the sound of cows and sheep and particularly bird song.
The owner was friendly and very helpful when we got bogged down in the mud on arrival, getting his tractor to tow us to our pitch. Fortunately the field dried out quickly once it stopped raining, and parking our car on the gravel track along the bottom of the field was a sensible precaution!
There is no playground or similar for children, but there is space to play and wander in safety, and the children on site seemed content with this. They also enjoyed talking to the horse in the field next to us.
There is a shop (with off-licence and newspapers) and cafe / bistro at the service station a couple of minutes away by car, but for a supermarket you need to visit Ulverston (15-20 mins)or Kendal (20-25 mins).
The site is convenient for Bowness / Windermere / Ambleside etc. In one direction and Cartmel / Grange-over-Sands in the other so there is plenty to do within a 30 minute drive.
We were delighted to discover this site and are looking forward to our next visit in July. Oh, and at £8 a night (including electric) it's a real bargain!
