This pub is a must visit for motor homers.
Nick the landlord is the cuddliest friendliest landlord we have ever had the pleasure to meet. 'Free to camp as long as you have a meal he told my wife on the phone' well that did it we packed the motorhome on our way we went.
Food excellent and at a reasonable price.
ADNAMS ales Excellent.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Quite location.
We stayed for two nights on the car park but there is a really nice meadow that can be used in drier weather.
There are no electric hook-ups. There is a tap with hose. You can use the pub toilet and nick did leave the outer door open at night for us.
Don't expect full campsite facilities this is a proper village pub with basic facilities, but if your a motor homer with every thing on board this site is great.
We will definitely be going back.

Just a quick update to the previous reviews, which I found to be quite representative, and add a few additional details.
Whilst this is a CS / CL type site, it is not affiliated to either Club.
Due to the tendency of the pitching area to become soft in periods of extended wet weather, it should be emphasised that it the site is restricted to tents and motorhomes only. Motorhomes are accommodated on the large car park.
The wc facilities are located in the pub, and therefore only available during opening hours.
Very dog friendly (no charge).
Pitch fees are currently £10 / night for both tents and motorhomes.
The Bell Inn is a classic, unspoilt village pub where the beer is, unusually, served ‘on gravity’, (that is direct from the barrel), and was the best pint of Adnams I’ve has for a very long time. The food is exceptional and great value. (Main courses typically £10 -£12 and all sweets £4. 50) I just hope that the current chefs do not move on!
Middleton itself is indeed a very peaceful, quiet and unspoilt village.
To sum up: Traditional, informal camping in a peaceful location next to an unspoilt pub serving great food.

Found this through these reviews for a impromptu trip out of London, and glad I did.
As stated already, don't go expecting any facilities apart from the pub loo and a cold tap outside. The toilets were pretty cramped, but always clean.
A great spot for a couple of nights peace and relaxation, though the lack of a shower and washing up facilities might limit it for longer stays.
Not a lot for kids to do on site, apart from run around.
Lovely peaceful location, just a meadow next to the pub. You're in the middle of the village, but it's very quiet. Sat enjoying my pint watching a gang of Swifts zooming around.
I had great weather, and only 3 tents there on a Saturday night, and the place to myself on a Sunday. Landlord really friendly, and a great pint of Adnams in the bar.
The only shame was I didn't notice they didn't do food on a Sunday evening, having planned to treat myself. The landlord directed me to a nice place in the next village. There's no shop in the village, but a nice, if expensive, farm shop on the 'main' road just outside.
Just a couple of miles from Dunwich and Minsmere, loads of great walks through woods, heaths and by the sea. Great for birdwatching.
I can't see this ever getting spoiled, it's so small and can't really accommodate big units.

After staying at the Bell, I thought about not posting a review because I didn't want anyone else to know about it, but that's not fair to the owner or to my fellow UKCers. We were among the heartbroken campers who used to stay at the Eels Foot Inn until they stopped camping. Since then we have tried other locations but nothing has come close, until the Bell.
It's in a delightful, peaceful Suffolk village (the church bells have been silenced!) and the pub itself is unbelievably pretty. There's a new landlord who seems to want to keep it as a village pub and who went out of his way to be helpful and accommodating. Camping is in a spacious field next to the pub. Some of the field is unmown to promote orchids. Facilities are very basic - just the pub toilets. During the night only the gents is kept open, with a cubicle, a couple of urinals and a small handbasin. Fortunately we were the only people camping so there were no awkward moments, but it could be tricky if it was busier.
It cost us £10 per night for the two of us in a smallish tent. The alternative campsites are either extortionately expensive or fully booked months in advance, so grateful thanks to pubs like these that provide such lovely places to stay.
We went for walks around the village and found a well-equipped children's playground as well as a first-rate farm shop.
This is a great place to stay but please don't tell anyone!

A very basic site with minimum facilities. Set in a quiet village. Close to Minsmere and Dunwich Heath. Good food and Excellent Adnams ale from the cask.
The staff and locals very friendly and laid back.
Fourteenth century church worth a visit, its clock chimes you will hear.
Site and Inn dog friendly.
There is only one pitch hard standing, and the field can be tricky if you are towing, due giant moles.
Check Pub opening times before arriving ; book first.
We had a great time one of our best bank holiday breaks.
