We had a wonderful trip to Shadow Woods. We stayed in the family yurt (2 adults and 3 children) and it was amazingly spacious and luxurious. It was a real 'glamping' experience in terms of the accommodation - comfy beds, loads of cooking equipment, a wonderful fire bowl to cook on and running water in our own personal sink - but we still got a real sense of being out in the woods away from it all. The eco toilets were great and we had a lovely solar powered alfresco shower. Amanda and Clive really looked after us taking the kids fishing for sticklebacks and telling us all about the plants. The kids absolutely loved it, having loads of space to play in, the woods to explore and fairies and trolls to spot in the woods! We felt slightly sensitive about the kids' noise as there is only one family yurt and the others are for couples looking to have a romantic get away but no one actually asked us to do this. The site is about 30 minutes drive to Littlehampton and the Witterings are also a bit further away. We bought food from Tesco's in Billingshurst which also has a good hardware shop where we got firelighters etc. I thoroughly recommend a visit to the site, we are already planning our next trip.

The children didn't want to leave Shadow woods from the moment we arrived. We were warmly welcomed by Amanda and Clive who made our stay so memorable. Amanda kindly provided the children with books so that they could identify the hundreds of butterflies that fill the meadow, whilst Clive provided his wealth of knowledge of the woodlands and some delightful fairy stories too. The children enjoyed collecting little treasures like feathers and magical stones, and they loved having fun with clay. Our Yurt was clean, cosy and very comfortable for all of us. The kitchen box supplied covered all our cooking needs and having our own washing facilities outside our yurt was very handy. Outside a large fire bowl was used to cook our dinner and breakfast and kept us warm under the stars at night. There was plenty to enjoy in the woods and the scramble net and tight rope were a bonus for the kids. The toilets were clean and effective as were the solar powered showers. If you are looking for a relaxing break to get you back in touch with nature, or a fun place for the children to explore, or even a retreat from all the noise, then I would highly recommend this very different and wonderful experience.
