Be careful what you believe when you read these sites!
My husband and I booked into Rose Cottage, one of the Hillview Cottages at the Traveller’s Rest, Bridport, this summer.
Only after we had booked did we see a negative review on one of the sites regarding the cottages and caravans. Had we seen the review beforehand, we would not have booked!
The result of that would have been to miss out on a fantastic week! We would regard ourselves as quite fussy but we found everything about our stay in Rose Cottage to be of the highest standard – hygiene, cleanliness, facilities, privacy, helpfulness of the owners, quiet and peaceful. We had a fantastic time, and the cottages and caravans exist in perfect harmony, as far as we were concerned.
And – unusually - the photographs on the owners’ website are a true representation of how the cottage actually is inside.
We highly recommend – from two very fussy but very satisfied customers!

Very poor site. Facilities - shower block - consists of one wet room shower which is not completed.
Toilet in field was a plastic unit with no light and had not been cleaned in weeks. Septic tank for waste had a wooden lid and waste was poured directly in to tank very unhygienic.
No hard standings, so very difficult to tow caravan in and out if wet.
Do not follow reception sign, just enter site and then walk to reception, as no turning point.

Stayed at this site during August 2011. Sloping site and would advise taking levelling chocks. Nice views over the countryside. Facilities consist of a Wet room containing one toilet, a shower and wash hand basin.
All new and still needs some tiling to finish the job. Unfortunately this facility is locked between hours of 9pm and 6. 30am (if the owner is up!) and again between 11am till 4pm for cleaning! (there is no towel, no mirror and would suggest taking toilet roll as on several occasions it had run out)
The only other toilet facility is a Portaloo cubical which is pretty disgusting and unlit at night if you are desperate!
The chemical toilet emptying facility is the most disgusting pit I have ever seen and would advise staying well clear.
The entrance/exit is directly off the A35 and dangerous if towing and turning right.
Price per night on their website states £12 per pitch which is misleading as I was charged £20 per night for my unit, 2 people and an electric hook up.

Bank holiday weekend. Nice open site, friendly owners, just a basic site with toilets but no showers (as noted on the website). There is a main road which is busy, but as said in previous review, at night it really does not bother you as you are far enough away and the traffic is far less.
Bridport is 10 mins away and 30 mins from weymouth, ideal central point for most of the south coast at a very good price.
There are no immediate amenities ie shops, so make sure you stock up with what you require
As with most site they request that a leaving time of 1200 approx there is leeway, be observed although it is not explained when booking or on the website
One thing which could be changed, was the fact that there was no water rinse for the toilet waste, you have to use the main tap water people use for their water barrels which in my opinion is not that hygienic.

We stayed a week at this site, found the owners very helpful and social. The site is under new ownership so is unknown at the moment we were the only unit on site, the pitches are level 6 electric hook ups.Plenty of room between pitches plenty of room for children to play ball etc.The views from the site are stunning. The only bad fault I found was the main road, very noisy in the day but not to bad at night, will definitely use this site again.
