This is a little gem of an 10 pitch site which we would like to keep to ourselves but it wouldn’t be fair on Tim and Lesley who are welcoming and work hard to create a well kept site. The loos and showers are spotless and there is plenty of hot water.
There is a large field with mown paths to walk your dog and the main camp field is well maintained - the grass is collected - with good views over the rolling countryside. There is an above-ground swimming pool which we would have used to cool off in but we forgot our swimsuits!
We shouldn’t forget Ted, the spaniel, who gave us and our dog a waggy welcome - he wasn’t intrusive though and left us alone to enjoy our holiday. It was a lovely quiet place to relax.
We were able to walk around the lovely countryside directly from the site without having to take the car. A short walk down the road is the local post office/shop/bar which did a very good ‘Plat du Jour’ at lunch time and cooked pizzas in the evening. La Châtre has the usual facilities and there are towns, markets and some castles/ chateaux to visit.
A very tranquil site with a CL atmosphere. Located in a small village with shop/bar. Nearby pretty historic villages including Bussac with a traditional weekly market. Good access from quiet road. Wonderful rural views and large flat pitches with hook-ups. The facilities were simple and spotlessly clean. The owners Tim and Lesley went out of their way to provide an excellent service. (Teddy the dog did his bit too!)
We camped at this site in a Kampa 8 berth for a week and had electric hook up. The pitches are a good size. The site is lovely and quiet with views over the surrounding countryside. The toilet facilities are excellent and the showers are hot. There is free wifi which even reaches the far end of the camping field. We had our dog with us and the dog walking field behind the camping field was great- there is even a seat at the bottom of the field if you want to take a break.
Just up the road from the campsite is an epicerie / cafe which was very helpful for essential items ( the pizzas are very tasty)- there is a large super you in La Chatre if needed. For authenticity the bread man delivers daily from about 11. 30 - you know he's arrived by the loud klaxon !
There are some lovely villages to visit in the area including Toule Ste Croix which has a church and crypt plus a viewing point over the surrounding area towards the volcanoes. The journey from Perassay to Toule passed through some lovely scenery.
We visited Broussac on market day which was interesting. The market is big. We had lunch on the square in the cafe which was very tasty.
The owner of the site was very helpful advising us on which area of the site had sun/shade and where to visit.
We are an older couple and enjoyed our weeks holiday on this site.
