A brilliant site. Cost me only £12 a night with hookup. 50p for a shower. Just on edge of town so easy to walk into the lovely Newton Stewart.
Very quiet, very friendly owners. Toilets and showers immaculate. Great location for walking and cycling.
Near to Glentrool and Isle of Whithorn. Also ideal for people catching Irish ferry. Near to sports centre with a pool.
Brilliant.

This could be a great little site but unfortunately the roadway and hardstandings are not quite big enough we got our caravan on one with no problems but someone came in with a motorhome and did not have enough room to manoeuvre on to the hardstanding and had to leave.
On the plus side it has excellent facilities and is not expensive (£12) also very handy for the ferries to Ireland.

Highly recommended!
Stayed for 6 nights in August 2010 with our Trailer tent - Booked to go back this August with our new caravan though! :-)
This is a very small 5 unit C&CC site. Located up a very steep hill (although it can be approached from the rear side of town also, to avoid most of the hill). Located very close to the town centre, I estimate it to be between a 5-10 min walk max. (Downhill on the way & obviously uphill on way back so bear it in mind if carrying shopping home from the supermarket!)
There is a Leisure centre with a swimming pool almost opposite the house/site but saying this, it is indeed, in a very quiet part of town on a very quiet road - noise was very minimum.
The town itself has everything you would need, without it being too large or 'tacky' There is a Sainsbury's store, an Aldi, as well as a Co op, bakers, butchers, pharmacy, post office, pubs, cafe's, restaurants & take-aways, plenty of gift shops etc etc.
The site is basicly part of the owners garden, just to the left of their house. The owners were extremely friendly & helpful, were relaxed about arrival/departure times and offered advice about the local area of places of interest. All pitches have electric hook up point and are grass pitches, except one which is a hardstanding pitch. If you want lots of space for children to play on-site then probably not recommended. (although there is soooooo much to see & do around and about this wasn't a problem for us & our 7 year old son. ) As the site is very small, you are asked to park & leave your car just outside the house (obviously after you have unpacked & set up etc) as their isnt really enough room to park your car on the lawn next to your caravan/unit. This wasn't a problem for us as its still very close & you can still see your vehicle.
There are 2 toilets on site for campers to use and 1 shower. Dishwashing facilities provided in the toilet block/outbuilding. Chemical disposal, waste water disposal & freshwater tap are all there too - located outsite the toilet block. Showers are charged separately - we were given a tick list to show how many we had used (its an honesty poilcy) & you add this to price when you leave.
Be warned though, as in most of Scotland (and especially this area. The Midges come out to play later in the afternoon/early evening and they certainly tried their best to make a meal out of us untill we locked ourselves inside! The owners did have a fancy Midge eating/zapping machine though on the lawn which I imagine helped to keep the dreaded things away!
All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay here. We were charged £7. 50 per night (including electric). We are booked in this August too and have been told that the 2011 tariff will now be £9. 00 per night. This is still very reasonable & affordable.
Sorry for the long review. I find if I'm reading a site review though, that its important for me to find out as much as possible about the site & local area and hope that this helps you make your decision.
