Four of us had a lovely relaxing weekend at Orchard Yurt. The setting is ideal, you are effectively in the patron's garden but it is large enough to feel private.
The facilities are good with a nice solid toilet/shower block & kitchen separate to the yurt. All nicely clean & ship shape.
A campfire is allowed & encouraged & the wood burner in the yurt keeps things toasty. All the gear supplied is of a very good standard & everything has been thought of.
The lovely owner even gave us a big bunch of herbs from her garden. Highly recommended.

There is no doubt that Orchard Yurt is a very special place. This is particularly so given its peaceful location amongst the fruit trees and wild flowers of Herefordshire nestling between Ledbury and Hereford. The Yurt itself is 100 yds from the owners house which for some may be not remote enough but its specific Orchard location soon hides this fact. We stayed during a very wet weekend but this did not dampen our enthusiasm. In fact it enabled us to have maximum enjoyment of this unique form of shelter with endless board games (provided) and lots of reading inside the fabulous Yurt itself. A small gas stove and kettle enabling regular tea top ups. The cool mornings providing an excuse to light the central log burner for extra toasty sleep in our sleeping bags placed upon the futon and comfy fold out single beds. Blankets and a liberal scattering of floor rugs added to the authenticity of the Yurt led Mongolian life.
Cooking and washing were a far pleasanter experience than my last camping trip. A lovely fully furnished outhouse consisting of a kitchen (fridge, sink, crockery) a well appointed clean tiled bathroom with electric power shower and a covered eating area complete with table and chairs, camp stove and a BBQ are provided for the sole use of campers. This is located next to the Yurt and accessed through a picket gate beneath the fruit trees. Our kind hosts had placed in the fridge locally sourced ingredients for a full and hearty breakfast on our first morning. We were encouraged to light up this communal area in the evening via an array of wonderful gas and paraffin lamps. My children enjoyed full use of the table tennis table and when they could no longer see the ball through the darkness we sat around the BBQ/flaming fire pit enjoying a hot chocolate before bedtime. Logs are provided for a small nominal fee.
If the great Mongol, Ghengis Khan, were himself to visit he would probably described it as the Malmaison of the Yurt World. A venue that is as romantic as it is adventurous; my next visit will likely be with my partner minus the kids. With its unique location, beautiful construction and every conceivable facility that you could require this has to be one of the UK’s pivotal ‘Glamping’ locations. The cost of staying at Orchard Yurt is reflective of all that is described above and is comparable, if not less expensive, than Yurt options with far fewer facilities. In addition to the Yurt, which sleeps 4, the Orchard has facility for tents to be pitched. Go with friends and take turns as to who has the Yurt. I foresee that those first in will not be willing to give up Yurt life for nylon and guys.
On reflection our stay at Orchard Yurt provided us with a truly relaxing break and time to properly reconnect with the kids who thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Is it camping or is it alfresco B&B? You must visit and decide for yourself but hurry -once this place gets discovered following this its first rental the Mongol hordes will have it booked up in no time.
