Location was good in terms of the Boyne Valley.
It was the very end of the season, and the showers were unusable, as they had not been cleaned.
We only stayed because there was not another site in the area.

The site was in a nice location, plenty of toilet facilities and showers.
The use of a kitchen and being able to sit at a dining table was lovely.
The donkey and goat were sweet natured and it was nice to see chickens.
We definitely will be going again.

What was there to like. It had been a long journey to get there due to an accident on the motorway and we were hoping for a quick setup and rest. Not so. Only two places on the gravelled area were suitable and one was already taken. The other backed onto a hole in ground partially covered with a sign saying waste water.
Not keen to park there so tried another 3 places and even with levellers we could not get the motorhome level. So no choice but to park backed up to the waste water dump. Could not park on the grass because signs saying not to and too far from EHU points.
Toilets old, dated, not particularly clean same thing with the showers. Did not use them used motorhome facilities. Campers kitchen dark dingy and unsafe electrics. Again did not use.
Did not empty our black waste because there appeared to be no were to empty it. Looks pretty but that is not what you want after a long day on the road.
No one in reception ended up next day hiding the payment from public view in reception. For 25 euros it is a rip off.
Stayed on CLs and CSs for less with much better amenities. If there had been an alternative in the area we would have left.
If you own a motorhome or caravan don't go there because it is the luck of the draw that you would get the only safe level pitch.

I have just returned from a week long stay, and found it to be an excellent base. There are loads of things to do in the area, Newgrange, Slane castle, Boyne Museum to name a few. The owners are friendly and helpful. They jump started my car for me one morning. Its a working farm, with hens, pigs, donkey and goat to amuse the children. Also a large working dairy farm. Beside the camp field is an organic veg garden and you can help yourself. Eggs too from the hens, (they are lovely). The facilities are basic but clean. There are 2 showers (free)and the water is piping hot. 5 toilets, all outside and could do with tidying up, it is the end of the season after all. They are perfectly useable though. If you want fancy playparks, loos, showers etc, this isn't the place for you. If you want a country setting, few rules, where you can sit up late, light fires, and enjoy the sounds of nature around you, with green fields as your view, then you will be made very welcome. There is a campers kitchen which is reasonably well equipped, kettle, toaster, hob, pots, pans, 2 fridges, crockery and cutlery. The door is broken on the freezer bit so it wont freeze ice packs. There is space for motorhomes and ehu if you want it. Slane is 2km away and is bursting with places to eat, Boyles pub welcomed me and the dogs as old friends. Tips, take hand soap as the loos have none and a universal sink plug.

Just home from a stay at Slane Farm Hostel Campsite. What can I say 'fabulous!' We were there for the Kings of Leon concert at Slane Castle.
There where hundreds of people there and we where well looked after. Plenty of toilets and toilet roll. Showers available with hot water and there was catering vans available.
This is my fifth time staying for a gig in Slane and this campsite was the best ever. The owner saw the queues for the toilets and let us use the toilets in her hostel to reduce the queues.
Amazing, well managed and will be considering and other visit soon. A very happy camper!

Camping is in a small field behind the lovely Slane Farm Hostel which is 2 miles from Slane town centre and a mile from Slane Castle in Co. Meath.
The nearby Hill of Slane is also worth a visit but to me the jewel in the crown that made us choose this place was it's proximity to the Bru na Boinne ancient passage graves which is an absolute must. A world heritage site that puts the noisy shambles of Stonehenge to shame.
The price was 8 euros per person and the facilities were basic with 2 showers and 4 toilets. But that's just what you'd expect from a Farm site in England. There was an added bonus of a little kitchen with a dining table, sink, hob and electrical sockets. The sockets doubled up as hook-up points so I'm sure a small investment in proper hook-up points would better serve the site.
