 We stayed at this site for 14 days and loved it. The staff at reception speak English well enough and after being twice given pitches that we did not like we eventually pitched next to a hedgerow and had the EHU right behind us. Each camping lot is split into 7 pitches around the edge and cars can be kept by your tent. The pitches are small (supposedly 80m2) and unless all the tents/caravans are small there is no way the way that all pitches can be occupied without a good mixture of unit sizes, it would maybe better to have 6 pitches in each area and allocate a little more space to the corner plots. The good thing is that each set is surrounded by hedges and I found that the other people don’t walk through your pitch if there was a shortcut available (there wasn’t on mine as I filled the entire pitch). The Site has a small shop that does delicious baked bread in the morning (don’t forget to pre-order the day before) but everything else in there is quite expensive (so is the nearby super-u though!) and the shop only sells a few essentials. There is a bar area selling snacks & beer throughout the day next to the pool and the heated outdoor pool is amazing for a quick dip! The slides (4!) are great for the kids and on inclement days the indoor pool is really handy. There are no sunbeds, only chairs and there are always some available. The rules of the pool are simple, no shoes or food & drink and gents, you need to lose the swimming shorts! Proper swimming trunks/boxers only. There is an all-purpose football pitch with 3 basketball hoops and all the kids played together perfectly. Although we didn’t make use of the mini golf & the tennis courts they seemed to be good fun. There is a huge play area at the rear of the site and another smaller one in the middle. The majority of the site is chalets which have their own showers and toilets so we didn’t once queue for showers in either of the two blocks and the toilets were always clean (paper provided). The washing up areas were well kept and there are 3 washing machines & dryers on site for 4 euros a load.
We don’t usually make use of the nightime entertainment at campsites but every night there was something going on at the evening bar area & games room. The animation team were constantly organising games etc. For the kids; we took part in the water polo and numerous football tournaments as well as the Wednesday night foam party that is great fun. There is a good mixture of other nationalities on this site, the majority being French and a few Brits as well as German & Dutch campers.
We visited Locornan, Morgat, Concarneu, Chateulin, Douarnenez, iles de Glennen and the beach which is within walking/cycling distance. Shops nearby include Lidl, intermarche and the Super-U, all of which were open on a Sunday morning, which shocked us! As normal though France usually shuts on Sunday so don’t expect much service at the campsite bar for a few hours on Sundays and the shop & reception closed for two hours in the middle of the day.
This was a great holiday and we are glad we chose this site as it was safe (the kids quite happily cycled freely around the site) and we encouraged them to enjoy their freedom and felt as though we didn’t have to watch them like hawks!
A little bonus was the meteor shower and seeing a faint Milky Way in the evenings. Bliss.
