Please note we have been advised that this site is now statics only, and no longer offers camping, motorhome or caravanning pitches. If you know that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks

We were attending a local wedding and used this site since there were 'no room(s) at the Inn '. I had read the reviews which looked promising; so what did I find ? Well, I could not fault the friendliness / helpfulness of the owner. Second, I was impressed by the recent bar conversion with adjacent functional area. Third, I could not complain about the cleanliness of the shower / toilet area. Fourth, the pricing was very competitive. However, this is a site which is primarily for statics, is very much in development through the new owner and whilst tents / tourers are certainly welcome, the facilities for them are currently minimalist. Two toilet cubicles and one shower for both sexes is not adequate in my view. There is a single water tap and it is unclear whether the Elsan / grey waste portals are one and the same. The road to the site ( up a steep unpaved hill off a narrow winding road ) requires to be navigated with care and signage to the site from the maim 'A' road is not good. Personally, I would not be tempted to go back until it was more mature and to be very fair, the owner is putting a lot of TLC in that direction. Good luck to her.

Myself, two children (10yr old & 16yr old)and husband have just spent the most wonderful 5 days at Glen Afton. We stayed as part of our Glasgow Commonwealth Games adventure and would heartily recommend the place for tents. We didn't get a great deal of time to explore the surrounding area as we were away to Glasgow early every morning to attend our sports events. But the toilet/shower/facilities were clean, modern, worked well and close at hand. The lady owner was very helpful and friendly, she froze my ice pack each day with out any grumbling-Thank you again. The camp area was flat and in good condition (ground was hard but it was bone dry at the time-not her fault at all :-)) The other caravanners were friendly. There's a duck pond, ponies to feed grass to and chickens, Guinea fowl and Peacocks about the site. The area is beautiful too. Good train service to Glasgow. The little bar was excellent with good prices and the Sunday carvery was excellent value at £5. 95 p/p and was delicious! We were stuffed and couldn't eat another thing more. We are going again for a proper holiday it was so nice.

We arrived at this site with the a 4 berth caravan which is towed easily by my car. However the road into site is quite uneven and gravely in places with numerous potholes. Due to the wet weather, the need to stop for the speed hump and the poor condition of the road we did wheel spin quite a lot. To be fair they do seem to be doing work to address this. But this was not that ideal. The welcome we received was not great as I was just told where my pitch was and had to go back to ask about amenities etc. The site is predominantly static vans. Saying that the site was nice level freely draining ground and the port-a-cabin amenity block has 1 shower (free and always hot water)and two toilets, two hand basins but now washing up sink (not a problem for us in the van)- very clean. Our hook up had been knocked and was leaning over, I propped this up with a stone to the correct angle. The bins were full a lot of the time but there are recycling facilities which is nice. The site looked a bit rough in places but served as a good base for getting to the commonwealth games. No real play area for children - I think this site has the potential to be really good and would like to see if after the work has been carried out.

Arrived at the caravan site and greeted with one of the owners shown to pitch which was on a grass. Area just behind the bar and the restaurant. The pitch was level and electric hook up and the views from my pitch was worth the visit. The toilets and showers are in a porta cabin were very glean a lots of hot water. The bar on site is called the hillside inn and is warm and welcoming the food was first class and a good choice and not over priced. The owners are still working making the site better they have a duck pond with ducks of course and peacock and a couple of pot belly pigs. The owners Phil and a

We have just purchased a static caravan on this site and are more than happy with the site & the people who run it
They have a cracking wee pub & good food the site is peaceful & pet friendly everyone we have met are really friendly and have made us more than welcome.
The owners have only been here 2 yrs and are going to make a significant difference to the park and they cant do enough for you. We are so pleased we found this gem of a park and made the decision to get a van here you will be hard pushed to find better and at really good site fees

Fantastic site, extraordinary views, excellent hospitality, what a brilliant time 5 stars plus. Thank you Anne. Will be back. Hillside Inn is excellent food is great value for money all meals are around five to six quid, draught beers lagers and cider are all one price £2. 90 house double spirits £2. 40, wish we had been able to stay the Sunday to try the carvery which are two for ten pounds. The site is undergoing a lot of renovation but didn't effect any part of our stay.

First time at this site. Very peaceful nice meals in bar. Owner very helpful could not do enough to make our stay good. We were also made welcome by the other campers. Will be back. Will also recommend to family and friends. Owner has no problem on how long you stay the following day. Toilet and showers were spotless, they are being done up. Bar has also been done up. Stay for one night was ten pound, meal for two was under 15 pounds
