Just used this as an overnighter, so didn’t explore much; though the beach, next to the site, made for a lovely walk.
Site is well organised, swimming pool, nobody in it because the weather was cold and windy.
I’d had a twitch and pre booked; had I waited, could have used ACSI and saved a few pennies.
Had a meal at the campsite restaurant, very good.

Site is sutuated right on the coast just south of La Rochelle. Its a large site but when we visited it most of the facilities were shut so I can't comment on those and my rating reflects the site as we found it.
In season I would imagine it is popular with French families, and a lot of the pitches have been given over to static lodges.
Fouras is a nice little town, with a few bars and shops - everything you need. There is a medium sized supermarket in town within walking distance from the site. A bike is handy for short local trips to the shops etc.
The area is good for easy cycling and walking, and there are lots of places to visit nearby, particularly old fortifications and a few islands which can be reached by small ferry boat.
There are some nice fish restaurants on the point near the ferry to Isle D'Aix - we had a lovely lunch at Les Viviers de Nadege, overlooking the bay

This site provided us with an ideal base to explore the area. We visited Rochefort, La Rochelle, Ile d'Oléron, Ile de Re, Citadelle Brouage and a boat trip to Fort Boyard.
This large site has pitches of different sizes to suit motorhomes caravans and tents, some pitches have sea views but these are limited.
The site is open all year and was starting to empty when we were there at the end of Sept.

Great site and we found a pitch right next to the sea - so good hearing the waves through the night.
The beach is about 5 minutes walk away but we really appreciated the ease of cycling around the area.
The facilities are OK - for me the super-hot showers were great.
The town is charming with a great indoor market - great restaurants too. Some fabulous huge Art Deco houses.
Make sure you take the ferry to Ile d'Aix - it's a great half day tour (and you can take bikes too).

We went for 2 weeks, and really enjoyed our stay, at a very reasonable cost. I had reservations as it was a municipal site but it came recommended.
Very French, we only spotted 6 British cars there and 2 were ours! Walking distance to the beach and town though the better beach is a bit further away, great cycling along the beach path and beyond. Entering the sea is quite muddy.
Cold at night and watch the mossies, we had some huge disc shape bites. Pool was lovely, supermarket in walking distance.
Pitches are variable in size. Ours wasn't massive but sufficient, our friend's was huge. Showers and toilets were fine, cleaned regularly.
We visited Rochefort and La Rochelle, Chantillion (sp?) and played mini golf just outside the site. Fouras is a nice town with a fort and market. I couldn't find out a lot about it prior to going there, hope you have more luck on that score.

We wanted a site by the sea and this fitted the bill nicely. OK, it was full when we went and the pitches although delineated by hedges/trees are relatively close together but, generally it was quiet in the mornings and great to be able to wash up with a view out to sea. Mostly shady sites with trees, sunnier in some spots than others.
As a municipal it was good value for money and the toilet blocks were sufficient for the visitor numbers and cleaned several times a day. If you have EHU, be aware that the distance to the bollard can be long. We borrowed an extension from the site.
VERY french, almost exclusively so, which was great and forced me to practice my very poor 'O' level variety. Shop on site was very limited, although there was a shop opposite selling veg and roast chicken alongside bike hire. A short walk takes you into the town and the other beaches on the peninsula.
Fouras is a belle epoque seaside town and charming, if not exactly lively at night. Depends what you want and this tranquillity suited us perfectly. A good base for travelling up and down the coast and also for trips to the islands or by bike. We had a wonderful time and were sad to leave.
