We came in this campsite because the reviews were good. It was better than expected. Warm welcome : the owner is very friendly and helpful. An impressive view over the sea where we could see 10 seals having rest in the water (don't forget your binoculars). There is a little path going down to the beach where we have also seen the seals at 10 meters. Only 2 other tents when we were there. No electricity, and only one bathroom we have to share with the others, but no problem with that. The owner also manages a Bed & Breakfast on the site : the campsite is next to his house. Very cheap at the moment we were there (free camping) so we took the breakfast : 5 £ each for a complete english breakfast with eggs, sausages, etc. For us, definitely the simplest, cheapest and best campsite during our holidays !

Quiet, simple, small site. No hook ups which suited us. Excellent views, very friendly owner. Only 6 sites, only one other site taken whilst we were there. One bathroom which was spotlessly clean and we shared without any problems. Would highly recommend this site if you like a quiet, no frills site.

Stunning outlook over Pentland Firth to Orkney, and perched at the edge of impressive cliffs - with old fishing station & slip below. Just stayed the one night - would have been nice to stay another night and explore locally, but we were on a cycle-tour and had a ferry to catch next morning.
A small, quiet & friendly, if basic, site - limited to a few people as only has the one toilet/shower (but a good one; in the house). So may be worth phoning in advance. Let down when we were there by the ground being quite rough from horses earlier in the year and from mower wheel-tracks.

I spent one night here en route to Orkney. A small campsite with fine views across to the isles; the owner was certainly welcoming and friendly. However the site itself was poor - a small field of fairly rough grass, quite untidy round the edges with some old tyres, etc strewn about. There is only one bathroom (fine in itself), but it could be a bit awkward if someone is having a shower or indeed a bath. I felt the cost of £9. 50 for one person was excessive, having stayed in many far better maintained sites for much less cost. Not a site I will return to.

The site is a little gem, it is homely basic and very very welcoming. There is no electrics but this fact is made clear on inquiry. The views are spectacular. The seals were visible from the sight watched a heron fishing on the beach and shared the site with two mares and their new foals it was magical. The toilet bath and shower were spotlessly clean. We spent a pleasant and restful night there and thank both owners for their friendliness.

Stayed for one night on our way to the Orkney islands in July 2011. Two small tents and motorbikes.
Our stay was on a sunday. Local area very nice and quiet with a good shop a few miles away at Castletown selling pretty much anything you could need daily. Fuel in Castletown too, but not on a sunday! Gills bay ferry port only a few miles away towards Jonn 'o Gtoars. Bigger facilities in Thurso too.
Not a great deal for kids to do on site, but the tiny beach at Brough bay is only a couple of minutes and there are resident seals.
Small site with only 6 tent pitches. One shared unisex bathroom with bath and shower, washbasin and loo. All spotlessley clean and perfectly adequate for the numbers on site. Nice level well drained grass.
Amazing views from this site! We stayed the following night at Rackwick on Hoy, which could be seen from this site easily.
Paid by cheque a few months in advance of our stay, and the gent who answered my telephone inquiry was friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. A confirmation of payment was promptly sent by post.
Received a warm welcome on arrival too. I'd happily stay here again.
