It had been 10 years since we visited this CS and what a difference the New Owner has made.
A new Toilet/Shower block which is clean. There is plenty of room to select a good pitch.
The views are good. It is very peaceful. As it is an Equestrian Centre there are Horses about but they are no bother, in fact they are entertaining. We stayed 12 nights and booked another 12 for next month.
Handy for all the East Coast resorts. There is a good shop in Seamer, about a mile away. I walked there most mornings and all the residents I met on my travels were very friendly and helpful.
Certainly one to recommend. A good price of just £16 per night. We only live about an hours drive away but just wanted a bolt hole after not been away for nearly 2 years due to Covid and other commitments.
The Owner was very friendly and helpful, nothing any trouble for them

The only reason we booked this site is because they advertise toilets and showers. These facilities are an absolute disgrace. Dirty would not even begin to describe them.
I am not usually a fussy person but when I went for a shower I was shocked. The room stank of cigarette smoke and there was a cigarette butt lying in the shower, which was thick with black grime and grit. I had to scrub it before I could use it.
The floor was also literally black. The door did not close as it was warped. The toilet bowl had excrement smeared around the outside. My wife said the ladies were exactly the same.
The details on the C&CC site say a club rep visited this year. How did they miss this? It's a real shame as this has the potential to be a good little site.
The pitch was level and quiet. Plenty of hookups and two water points. The chemical disposal is pretty grim though. Incidentally, there were more than a dozen units on site, some non members.
We will not be back and I suggest giving this place a wide berth.

Irton camp site was brilliant, nice and quite at the end of a lane.
Owners very nice and helpful. Booked originally for 2 nights planning to move around, but it was that nice we booked till the end of the week an extra 5 nights.
You are actually camping in the horse riding centre, in a lovely field at the side. Nice just to sit and watch the horses. The grass was a nice length. Water point at the top and bottom of the field. A nice line of bushes / trees on one side for a little shelter
The field has about 16 /18 ELU (not sure on wattage). Separate Recycle bins for normal house waste/ plastics/ tins/ paper. Bin also provided for dog waste and nappies. There is no play area. No pot washing area .
Dog walks available a lane just out of the campsite to the left and in the lane - field at the bottom of the campsite.
Toilets and shower room (gents & Ladies) (bit dusty, but don't let it put you off) also Chemical Waste disposal. Constant hot showers
Being a riding centre a few cars come and go and the toilets are at the side of the entrance on a gravel track,(probably why dusty) the cars do not interfere with the camp site, only there in the day, and there is a large carparking area for them, again no big issue. Plus if you see someone arrive they may be exercising the horses or riding them.
A great base to reach Scarborough and the surrounding areas - loved Goathland (heartbeat area), Whitby, Filey loads of places to visit.
They were Morrisons, Tesco and Sainsburys all major superstores available in about a 10/15 min drive.
£12 per night Great value for money.
Cannot wait to go again.

We have just returned home after 6 nights at this CS and before leaving booked for another 13 nights in September.
It is very quiet, within easy reach of public transport and shops. There are toilet and shower facilities on site but they are not for the sole use of C & CC members but we prefer to use our own onboard facilities anyway, think that is because we are used to rallying.
With electric hook ups and plenty of shelter it is well worth £12 per night. Len and Rita are very friendly and helpful owners. Very relaxing and can watch the horses or admire the views.
Plenty of room for young children to run about but no actual playground for them but this is maybe because of the horses as are most horses can be quite nervous.

We stayed for two nights and the site was nice and quiet, 6 caravans spread out on a flat field.
Les and his wife are lovely, very friendly and helpful.
Electric hookup no problems, a couple of fresh water points and chemical waste disposal point.
The site is located 1 mile down a dead end road and is really quiet. The site looks onto a riding school and this is really quiet and it was nice to watch the horses in the field next door.
There are two toilets and one shower for each sex. The only downside to the site was that the toilets were not very clean and the shower needed cleaning before it was used though it was lovely and hot and free running. If a mop bucket had been left, I'd have willing used it to clean the muddy wet floors.
Would we return? If we knew the toilets would be clean yes as at £12 including electric, it was well worth the money.
