We have stayed here four times in the last eight years so we like the place very much. The family that run camp site will give you a friendly welcome for a stay with relaxing facilities in an area with so much to do.

The camp site is set in a green valley with a lake in the centre, the camp site runs up one side of the valley, the pitches have been built level as it rises up the slope. The pitches are good sized, grassy and boarded with hedges so give adequate privacy, the majority are shaded by trees for those sunny days. Water taps and electric points are also always nearby. The toilet/shower blocks are clean and well maintained. You do need your own toilet paper. There is also a shop which we had not seen before, that now offers all the essentials.

There is a lake with a small beach and an island to swim out to occupy you on the sunny days. There is a medium sized pool, tennis court, play area and mini golf and fishing in the lake for other distractions. The site also has a bar that provides entertainment for children. We saw an amusing clown and Soleil-Vacances staff run activities for small children. The restaurant offers your camp site staples of ice creams, pizzas and meals.

There is a wealth of activity in the area, we canoed on the Vezere, visited the ruined chateau of Commarque and Les Grottes du Roc de Gazelle. All were excellent days out and that still left a host of other attractions that could be covered from prehistory, medieval, outdoor adventure or French culture.

You can walk into the small village of Plazac but most points of interest require a drive. On the days out you can drop into supermarkets in Montignac or Eyzies which are about twenty-five minutes drive away.

The site was full every night of the four nights we spent there, when we came here in August. We had booked and I would recommend for this time of year. The majority of the campers are French and Dutch with only a couple of British people, the staff do speak English though. We have thought of this as a brilliant site for families with very young children, now at eight and ten we know our children still want to return. The camp site is a great venue and excellent gateway to the Dordogne region.

Stayed at this lovely site for 10 days in September. The family owned site was quiet but there were a few units about. The owners were always available on site and were very friendly and welcoming but not intrusive. The facilities were excellent and well spread around the well laid out site. We were allowed to choose our own pitch. The pitches were all of a good size and had plenty of shade. The heated outdoor pool was lovely and you can also swim safely in the lake on site. (the dogs took full advantage of this opportunity to cool down in the heat)The site is a good base for exploring this part of the Dordogne with caves, medieval towns and villages etc all within driving distance. Overall a great little site to which we would happily return

A beautiful shaded, well hedged, levelled site of varying pitch sizes, none of which is too small. Each pitch has electric and water.

The couple running the campsite are the very proud owners, for whom nothing seems too much trouble.

We arrived at the beginning of the season and rather than open up the sanitary blocks, they made available a mobile home with all mod cons for our needs. ( don't expect this treatment in high season)

The normal facilities for campers seemed very clean, but perhaps in need of an upgrade. The water was hot in the showers, washbasins and in the dish washing area.

There is a very nice bar/cafe/lounge area beside the lake and shaded terraces at the water's edge.

Lots of activities from swimming pool, tennis courts, games rooms, boating and fishing.

In season bread and basic produce is available at reasonable prices and the bar prices seem decidedly cheap. Unlimited WiFi is available at under 3 euros a day.Cheaper than buying a beer at the local cafe to get free wifi.

Plazac is under a mile away and is well worth a visit.A living example of medieval France without the tourism.

The site is ideally situated for the major attractions of the area. The Vezere is about 3 miles away, Lascaux Caves about 5, Sarlat 15. Gardens, chateaux, grottos, rocs and chasms to last you a life time all within half hours drive.

To top it all they take Vacansoleil cheques
-----------

Update to our review. We found a far more up to date sanitary block, which makes our previous comments a bit churlish and unkind to the owners.

The nearest supermarkets is an Intermarche in Montignac about 4 miles away. This town also has all the mod cons that you would need.Post Office, large tourist office and loads of shops.

St leon sur verzere, again about 4 miles away is worth a visit, especially the town square and around the municipal campsite.
