We visited here in 2014 and decided to give it another go as we knew the pool areas were being revamped. Last year we said we wouldn't go back because it wasn't all service but we liked the area so booked again for this year. We love this site, its brilliant, the location is perfect for Jard Sur Mer and they gave us a huge pitch part shade and sunny. Toilets are immaculate and showers. Pool area busy in peak times but what a fab pool complex! New indoor covered pool with kids slide and climbing frame type thing, we love the atmosphere on here and its one of our fave sites. Jard Sur Mer is as lovely as ever. We love this part of France, its not at picturesque as some parts of France but its perfect for cycling and beaches and an easy drive from Caen, its around 6 hours towing on non tolls taking our time.
We will definitely go back to this site at some point but weve been twice now so its time for a change next year.

Just returned from a 7 night stay here. Second week of the main french holidays so not surprisingly it was full and about 50% or more of the people were french with the rest a mix of English, Dutch, German and Belgian - so a really good mix.
We had two pitches opposite each other - one with touring caravan and awning, the other a tent for son and girlfriend - so we had plenty of room to spread out. Pitches are large with high hedges to create a sense of privacy. Access roads on site are narrow and manoeuvring the caravan to get to and away from the pitch was quite tricky - had to back it up quite a way having reached an impossibly tight corner due to where cars were parked - which was a bit hairy particularly given the huge number of small children buzzing around on bikes and scooters.
Electricity supply serves the whole row of pitches from a single source at the end of each row. Even with a 20m + lead it was nowhere near long enough - but the site were really quick to provide an extension and help connect it. It does mean your lead trails along the rear of your neighbours' pitches and you have to intrude to connect / disconnect - but not a big deal. Connection required a 2 pin adapter - again had we not had one they would have lent one free of charge.
Wifi was good and strong throughout the whole site and cost 9 Euros for the week (for two devices albeit only one could be connected at a time).
The site is typical of those in the area - mix of touring vans and tents, statics and lodges. There is a large (and very busy) pool and a modern 'club house with good bar, very large screen football and evening entertainment. Each evening the club was rammed - standing room only, but good quality bands and singers etc. Whilst the site is very quiet overnight the music doesn't stop until around midnight and is very loud. The site isn't well lit and the kids were still buzzing around so after dark use of torch is recommended.
Staff are excellent - most speak good English and happy to help. Due to an unforeseen incident we needed to stay beyond check out time - initially we were told it would be no problem to leave the caravan in the parking area - but had it come to that there was no room and that would have presented a problem - but in the end they were able to accommodate us staying on pitch until late afternoon - which was much appreciated.
The local Super you is brand new and huge and less than 10 minute walk. Whilst the site is on the edge of the village, it's a good 20 minute walk to the port and nearest beaches - better beaches are a short drive away and would recommend Les Conches for body boarding / surfing and just beyond there, Tranche Sur Mer for windsurfing and great beach. Would also recommend the Cabao restaurant on the roundabout into town - excellent food and service - but definitely worth booking at busy times. We also ate at the big pizzeria / bistro near the windmill (with the pink furniture) opposite the Transatlantico - not good at all, really long wait and poor quality food - they even knocked the price of the most expensive dish off without asking - it's almost like they knew it wasn't up to standard. The Monday market is very large and traditional - and obviously very busy this time of year.
Cycling facilities in the whole area are brilliant - it's all pretty flat with dedicated cycle paths most everywhere.
Not the most picturesque part of France but if you like the Vendee this is a great base and we'd recommend it.

Brilliant!
We moved here after a dreadful stay at a site down the road and were not dissapointed.
The pitches a very big and hedged off so private enough, we went with friends who pitched opposite us and we had a fantastic time.
The pitches are not individually serviced although water and power at the end of each row, no more than 20meters away.
The toilets were very nice and cleaned throughout the day.
The pool are is lovely with 3 slides for the kids (and adults) to choose from, bar snacks and drinks well priced and service with a smile, always.
Small shop selling local store stock including some very nice vino! Pizza takeaway on site too for night time lazy food and bakery for breakfast.
Great location for Super you Marche, Bike routes and the back gate pops you out right on the edge of town.
All in all a brilliant stay and we are returning this year!

Staying on this site for 6 nights. The site is in a good location for the port and jard sur mer, it's ideal for cycling as the cycle route (vendee velo) is signposted from the roads and a lovely child friendly cycle path.
Pitches are hedged off and some are bigger than others, we were dissapointed as no all service pitches as when I booked I asked if the pitches had water but they are not, however, our pitch is literally next to the shower block. Our pitch is huge and private it's perfect.
We really like the site it's quiet at night and there's a security guy who cycles round to make sure it's not noisy. The pool area has 3 water slides which keep my girls happy, it's being totally revamped for 2015 which will greatly improve the site. Water is warm in the pools. Entertainment on every night and we've enjoyed the atmosphere on this site it has a nice feel to it. Absolutely love jard sur mer it's so lovely and this site has the location.
There's a shop and takeaway on site kids play area which isn't the best but ok.
This site is also good value for money and not overpriced.
Would we return here? No! Simply because there's better sites in this area with better pools and slides. We will be returning to this part of the vendee as we love it but not here as it's a bit too quiet for us and we prefer bigger sites but that's just personal choice.
Last thing there's no toilet rolls or seats in the blocks and the urinals are in open view in the unisex blocks which we found uncomfortable hut it looks like the norm in this part of france!

We came across this site in 2006 when we were having a run out whilst stopping at Domaine d'Beaulieau in St Gilles. We said at the time 'when we come back to France we're stopping here'
Six years later and having four year old twin girls in between we managed to get here and were not disappointed.
The site is brilliant and has very clean and refurbished showers, big pitches (ours was 100m2 but our next door neighbours was about 130m2), good pool with great slides although it did get busy in our first week and a supermarket 400 metres down the road.
There is a nice walk out of the back gate into Jard centre, which is lovely and has a couple of bars, restaurants, nice bakers, butchers, green grocers etc. And to the beach and port with more restaurants and bars.
There there are better beaches 15 mins down the road at Le Rocher and Les Conches and both with free parking.
Our two went to the mini disco and had a great time but I can't comment on the other entertainment. They also do pony rides too.
We did ask for a quiet pitch when we booked and the one we got was perfect but as we went in the last two weeks in August there was a mass exodus after the first week and we were left on our own in our little cul-de-sac.
If I could pick negatives is that the bar terrace is a bit small, but with the price of beer in French bars we didn't stay long there anyway and that they don't supply loo roll and hand soap in the toilets but I'm sure I can live with that!
Another word of advice is that you need to hire a fridge, we took our electric cool box and it didn't do a great deal.
We booked through Chadotel direct and it cost us about £350, which looking at a lot of other sites is very reasonable.
We did a reccy of other sites around La Tranche, Jard and Sables but still think that all round with the location, cleanliness and facilities is the best and booked again for next year.

Just back from a very good 12 night stay as a family of 2 adults and 2 kids aged 9 and 5. This is a busy site with lots of statics (Keycamp, French Freedom, Canvas Holidays, Rent-a Tent to name but a few) but as a consequence, there are lots of children to play with and this was a huge plus point for my children. The playground has been extended with the pirate ship that's shown on the website still there but now there's a really good climbing frame as well. The swimming pool was fine - perhaps a little small for the number of people in high season but perfectly OK if you just want to cool off and play about. Waterslides were great fun, small queue on occasions but never a problem. Sunbeds are easily available in the morning but harder to find as the day wore on but we always found a couple eventually. The washblocks were spotless - the nicest ones I've ever been to, showers very spacious (easily big enough for adult plus 1 or 2 children), toilets are unisex and no seats, loo paper or soap. However, the toilets are shaped to look as though they have a seat so it really wasn't an issue (I'm not a fan of the no loo seat arrangement but it really was fine!) If I have to criticise anything, it's the temperature of the water available for washing up - it just isn't hot enough for greasy pans (fine for cups etc). Solution - we took the washing up bowl into the shower, filled it half full with really hot water and walked the 5 paces back to the washing up sinks - problem solved. The pitches varied in size - we have a large tent and had requested one to fit the tent and in a quiet location and we got exactly what we asked for. The location of the site is its real selling point, there's a Super you about 2 minutes away by bicycle which is due for expansion for next year, it's a very easy walk/bike ride into town which has a weekly market and a busy high street with shops/cafes/tourist office/post office etc. A little further on is the port with an amusement arcade/tourist train/windmill/small playground/restaurants/cafes/ice cream shops and a lovely walk along the sea wall. Also the night market visits the port once a week as well. Great beaches nearby - some within short cycle distance with rockpools and fossils, others a short drive away with fantastic surfing waves. The area is less busy than some of the other resorts nearby (Les Sables d'Olonne or La Tranche) but plenty to do and very easy to get around. We went tree climbing at Indian Forest and visited Le Chateau des Aventuriers at Avrille which was excellent. Probably worth mentioning that the site is on a main road but the pitches are set back and there's no problem with road noise - there is bar entertainment on some nights but not every night. The nearby church bell rings every hour 24 hrs a day but you soon get used to it and we miss it now we're home! I'd recommend this site for families - we've already booked for 2013.

This was our second visit to this site, having stayed in a tent on the site last year. Pleasant, quiet site with nice pool, slides. Ideal for our children aged 12 and 9.
Entertainment is mostly in French, but weather is so good we didn't go to the clubhouse very often.
Walking distance to the town, with typically seaside type shops, a pretty harbour with a few restaurants. Several nice beaches - one within about 20 minutes walk and another about 3/4 minutes drive.
We went with French Freedom, who are I think the cheapest operator. No frills but good size and clean caravan. Pitches are a good size and most are private.
Would definitely recommend.

We stayed at this site for 14 nights. On holiday with French Freedom who are very cheap. We paid just over £1000 for the fourteen nights in a static French Cottage style caravan.
The campsite is very nicely laid out. Most pitches including tent pitches are spacious and well separated with high hedges giving a good degree of privacy. The toilet blocks are clean, a little old fashioned but well kept. The site provides a small shop, outdoor pools and slides, games room, bar and entertainment. There is also a small play park and all weather football pitch and tennis court.
The site it on the edge of a small village called Jard sur Mer. Nothing exciting but it does have a nice esplanade with a few resteraunts and marina.
The vendee is not rustically charming but does have a plethora of beautiful beaches with rock pools and long stretches of sand. We were also blessed with incredible weather and very little wind.
Nearby beaches such as Les Conches and La Tranche are worth a visit too.
Back to the campsite:
If you are into entertainment then this site is not for you, it is all French and mostly small bands playing in their inside arena. However we are not in need of entertainment so that was not a problem.
The shop is ridiculously over priced, buying in items for the local Super you (10 mins walk) and trebling the price. The tennis court is also greatly over priced at €8 an hour. The swimming pool was nice/heated and there were a couple of slides of the children's amusement.
Overall a very nicely laid outside but not the best if you are looking for the kids to be entertained.
