We spent a lovely 3 nights here on a grass pitch with no hook-up as we were a last minute squeeze in, but were only charged £12 per night. No toilets or showers.
Lots of lovely walks around the area including a coffee/craft shop which had recently opened.
A short walk to the bus stop to go in to Coniston although only a few buses each day so you need to check the times.
Coniston Museum and Bluebird jetty cafe are worth a visit and there are plenty of small shops to browse in.

We stayed at Shepherds View for 4 nights in early September 2016.
As others have said, the site has numerous hardstandings, all with electric hook up [although you might need an longer extension lead to reach the furthest ones]. There are no toilets or showers.
An earlier reviewer [admittedly 2009!] mentioned that the fresh water point was quite inaccessible for motorhomes. This is no longer the case as the water & refuse point are just inside the site entrance. The CDP is “offsite” but only a short walk away. The access to the site is down a narrowish lane which was a bit of a concern but, whilst we were there, the hedges were trimmed back.
The CS is superbly located to access the trails around Coniston Water with a footpath/cycle path only a few metres away from the site entrance that picks up the old railway line towards Coniston village [& then through the National Trust campsite at Hoathwaite].
There is also a direct path from Torver to access The Old Man of Coniston via. Goat’s Water. The Old Man was in constant view from the site [when the weather allowed!]
The Church Inn was a friendly local close by for after walk sustenance – it also has a campsite [CL] but no electric hook up. Now if it did, that would be the perfect site for us…………. !

Lovely small site for members of the camping and caravanning club. All level pitches with hook up, two water taps, rubbish disposal and chemical toilet disposal. No toilets or showers but we had our own so no problem here. Views overlooking fields full of sheep and lambs and Coniston Old Man. Very quiet with two pubs within walking distance just down the lane, Wilson Arms and Church House Inn, both do food. Footpath leads down to Torver jetty and then you can walk by the side of the lake to Coniston about 7 miles round trip I think. £13 including hook up and dogs. Came in via A590 from junction 36 on M6. Then A5092 and A5084. Last road a little curvy and thin in places but managed it! Would stay here again, one of the nicest, quietest places we have stayed in.

Booked shepherds view for August bank holiday arrived on the Friday late evening, the owners are the most welcoming people you could meet, so welcoming helpful and friendly. The husband reversed our caravan on to the pitch as alas I'm am not that good at this and the caravan is rather large, nothing was to much trouble. The site has spectacular views over to the Lake District mountain range. It is a great location away from the maddening crowd and ideal for exploring all that the lakes has to offer. The site is on a working farm so well organised and everyone there appeared to have a great stay including us. The owners have is so well organised they are helpful and really do go the extra mile to make your stay a great experience. When I booked I paid with my debit card but the next day I was alerted to some fraudulent activity on my bank account, I rang the site and the lady owner answered who I'd booked with I asked had the transaction gone through ok she said yes I explained why I was checking. On arrival she even remembered this and asked was everything ok with my fraudulent activity, I think that shows a real genuine caring nature even though it's her business she did not have to ask but did. How thoughtful. A great site great owners and well worth a visit indeed. Will be back for sure

Just returned from a two week stay at Shepherds View, a brilliant little site in a great location. Nice tidy site, level hard standings with hook up, only 10 amps though which is not a big problem, two water taps and toilet waste disposal. Very quiet. Five minute walk to the local pub, Wilsons, which does nice food, not cheap but good value and proper home cooked food, also a small deli type shop attached to the pub for basic provisions. Milkman calls to site every day. Three miles to Coniston, an easy walk if you are up for it either by the lake on a footpath or through another big farm campsite via a metalled road with no traffic, lovely walk, we did it most days at some point! Loads of good walks direct from the site, our car didn't move for the first week! Coniston is a proper working village, not your usual streets full of outdoor shops, two good small supermarkets for all your provisions, nice cafes and pubs and everyone is very friendly. Ok, we were blessed with 12 out of 14 days of great weather so we were lucky but we had a brilliant time and will definitely be going back!

What a great little site, very basic facilities ie water electric and an elsan point, but with a modern van, you have everything else required on board.
There are some great views of the surrounding area. Torver village is only a small walk away, two good pubs and a small shop selling all the basics.
Coniston is 2. 5 miles away and if you feel fit enough there is a nice walk to get there.
Plus the fees are cheep, so well worth a try.

A small quiet site with no facilities except hook up and water. Hard standings, nice views and not far from Conniston. The famous Churchhouse Inn in Torver is in easy walking distance although the food is expensive. There is also another pub that does food in Torver but we did not get round to trying it. Motorhomers please note that you cannot get near enough the water tap to fill up direct even with a long hose. An alternative if this site is full is The Church House Inn which has hook-ups too.
