The site is remote and simple. The pub is a step back in time. So you need to be self sufficient in food.
The toilets are clean but you need to have your own shower if you want one. However, it is close to nature.
We were serenaded by the cockerels in the morning which was really nice and the hens are beautiful and very happy with lots of space.
There were also ducks and a guinea fowl ( I think) wandering around the site.
Only stayed one night passing through so didn't see anything further afield.

Facilities are less than basic and were dirty, bins full, no shower. Dog mess on the field. Needs a tidy up and the junk scrapping.
The tractor turning around in the field was scary at midnight.
Sorry but it needs a rethink. Beer was great though.

If you like sites that are back to basics then this is the place for you. Run by a very helpful couple who were willing to go that extra mile.
The site is large and if you pick the right day(s) you can choose a spacious pitch.
Toilets are average but no shower though have a facility for fridge and microwave. Limited washing up facilities.

This is a really nice and relaxed site. Most of the pitches are flat, there is a slight incline in one part but barely noticeable. There are a few 240V hook ups.
Toilet block is basic (maybe could do with an update) but more than adequate.
Originally we booked 3 nights but stayed on for a forth. We have stayed here before so knew what to expect.
It is the classic 'in the middle of nowhere' yet less than a 10 minute drive to Newport if needing to get further provisions. We will be going there again this year. K&J

Just wanted to mention this fantastic site and wonderful landlord and landlady running this site. We arrived at 02. 15am on 1st of June. We parked up outside the pub and got our heads down when we woke the landlady came out and asked if we would like a cup of tea which you wont get that kind of courtesy from many site owners.
The site is large no electric hookup but our battery lasted a week so no problem at all. You can pitch where you like. The landlady and landlord were great throughout the the beer is rather good as well went down a bit too well at times.
All the locals were such lovely people as well. I hope to go back next year as we had an amazing time and the views were great from the site.
Our dogs loved running around. I hasten to add we did clear up after them so they were not just left to their own devices.
Any one thinking about it. Do it go you will have a great time, and I am fussy where I stay.

Just spent the night at the ‘Dashers’ and we had a great time. Another group of campers on the field who gave us a firework display on the evening which was very enjoyable. The owners so friendly and laid back, taking time to show us how to use a Tilly lamp we brought from the pub (they collect lamps and sometimes have “lamp nights” where you sit by the light of lanterns. Would love to be there for one of those nights.) The pub was so charming and quaint that we could have stayed in there all night. They don’t do food but we just fired up a disposable BBQ which they allow – but I think the owners would pretty much allow anything they are so laid back.
The field itself is big with one slope up one corner, but plenty of room for everybody. The facilities are very very basic, and a bit of shock at first as it is all unisex and walked in on a man having a shave and a wash while I wanted to use the loo. But for £4.00 a pitch a night – what the hell.
It really is in the middle of rolling fields, with a lovely canal walk about half a mile away. Just somewhere to go to get away from it all, and just enjoy a good pint and lots of fresh air and peace and quiet.
Will definitely be going back very soon.

Stopped one night here, only us on site, field very big, made to feel welcome. Pub nice inside 3 rooms in use the time we were there. Looking round the walls at the pub of the year and month awards feels like stopping back in time a bit, in a good way. Cider tip top. Kids had great time. Bit out the way if using sat nav post code puts you mile away in the village of knighton but we found it ok. Toilet block bit run down but clean and ok all for four pound a night what more can I say.

A very basic site. As described by the owner 'a field at the back of our pub'. This truly is in the middle of nowhere and ideal if you're looking to get away from it all.
The site was easy to find and the owners were very relaxed about, well, everything! The field was surrounded by tall hedgerow. The top half of the field was flat and drained well. The bottom half had quite a considerable slope. This did not affect us though as we were one of only 2 groups on the site. For the first school holiday weekend, proof that the site is well off the beaten track. The facilities were basic - a cabin with 4 sinks, hot & cold water and 4 toilets. Adequate however for GBP4 per tent per night.
The pub didn't look too inspiring so we didn't venture into it. We took our dogs walking around the local area but apart from the canal and a local fishing lake, there didn't seem too many options to explore. For amenities, attractions, sightseeing or entertainment, you really need to drive several miles to a local town.
If you want a peaceful, quiet, no frills, dog friendly, no-hassle campsite, this definitely ticks all the boxes.
