 Location: Fabulous view to 360 degrees.
Pitches: no privacy, but the advantage of this is totally open aspect to the amazing scenery.
Facilities: The best ever. Soooo clean. There's a laundry, a drying room, even hair dryer in the ladies.
There's a Sauna, Indoor heated pool, Barbecue area down by the river
(didn't use any of these facilities as we were up the mountain or back at the tent recovering).
Site Office: Brilliant, vey helpful, like having its own TI on site.
The nearest supermarket is about 6k down the road towards Abbondance, and they have petrol, pay on the pump. It's a Muskateers, so not great but has the basics.
The local bus service to the ski /MTB area stops outside the site.
It is a short walk into town. The food is town is quite expensive, after all Chatel is a prestigious ski resort in the winter.
Loved this site, would recommend it to anyone.
One thing to be mindful of. It is high up the river Dranse valley, the mountains are massive, so when the SUN goes down, boy do you feel the difference. It went from 35 to 13 in an hour (brrrr). Likewise, it takes sometime for the sun to ride over the mountain to clear the cloud which drops into the valley. So mornings are WET and COLD until about 10:30. So all the things outside drying were very damp. And I had to go to some expense to buy socks and a fleecy, which you do not expect to wear in August.
