On arrival we realised that the camp site was actually a front garden. We were told to pitch up by the side of the garden path. It was extremly close to the camper van on right of us. We couldn't let the children out of the tent because of the proximity of the path which was very busy with cars and van passing. The campsite is situated directly off a very busy road and this was another reason that we couldn't let the kids out of the tent.
The facilities on the site were extremly poor, everything looked botched and makeshift with exposed wires, pipes in the showers and toilet. We camp regularly and have stayed in basic campsites previously and so we are used to things being rough and ready but this site was a mixture of a council tip and a refugee compound.
In saying that the owner and staff were very pleasant and welcoming. We had originally booked to stay for 3 nights but left after 1 night and headed off to Pontins for the other 2 nights.

On arrival at the site we wondered where we would fit as we had booked for two motorhomes However, we fitted in between a caravan and another vehicle (not sure what it was).
I wouldn't call it a campsite - not sure what it was! I have never seen anything like it before. There was wood and rubbish everywhere and people living in horse boxes and dirty vans. Opposite us was a cage containing fifteen cats, attached to a horse box. The toilet and shower facilities were dreadful (more like dirty sheds) and the electric kept tripping out. One shower was a shower tray outside with a plastic curtain around it.
The owner and other campers were friendly but, needless to say we will not be going back.

If you want a NO Issues visit in a very handy but quiet location? Not to mention pretty. Then this is the place. The Owner is very accommodating and nothing is TOO MUCH trouble. Planning on revisiting in 2017 and hopefully bringing a group.

4 nights stay
Location = Nice around the campsite. Beautiful location 10 minutes drive to Bala. Nice walks around the area. Easy to get too by car. Couple of nice lakes nearby.
Facilities = for a small campsite their were 4 toilets which a couple was made by the owner. 2 Showers which were ok. Fairly clean though poor lighting in the evening and I do recommend you bring your own torch
Overall = Lovely campsite and friendly, helpful owner. Campsite flat. One side is near the main road which can be noisy in the evening.

Great little campsite. Everything you need with really good use of thinking outside the box. The toilets are a great idea. Owner is really friendly and helpful. Site well kept and looked after. A short drive to town with an amazing chip shop/cafe on a bridge!

We chose it because of the reviews we read and it lived up to expectations good value for money. Stayed one night 3 couples and 5 teenagers in a caravan, trailer tent and 2 small tents. Picked our own spaces, it's quite a small site but not full which gave the kids room to kick a football etc.
We sat up around a log fire quite late, the midges were a pain but they would have been at any campsite near a river in that area. Downside motorbikes racing around the area that saturday night, road noise otherwise not too intrusive.
Friendly owner who explained the facilities and on sunday morning came & said no rush to pack up & leave which was lovely.
We walked up the local mountain sunday morning but the local shop a short walk away was not open sunday.
I enjoyed my shower the water warm enough but only just eco lighting does hide the cobwebs.
The real flush loos in the portaloo huts had lots of fresh paper and were clean but cobwebby - again eco lighting helps - doesn't scare the spiders like strip lights!
No bin for landfill but lots of recycling bins available. Loved it & great for the white water rafting centre. Laid back old fashioned camping with the essentials you need. Might be different if cold & wet.

What a gem, if you like your facilities and club house, go elsewhere, what you get here is a small campsite situated by a small stream with bed and breakfast accommodation in the nearby house. The site has fire wheels and wood to purchase, EHU points and cold water washing facilities.
There is a twin shower room with solar lighting, great for families, but as a lone traveller you would have to lock out everyone else as both showers are in the same wooden shed.
There are also toilets, again situated in sheds by the showers, these could prove an issue for some as there is a gap between the male and female toilets if you use the shed, there are also portatoilets on site too.
The site is by a road, this can be noisy at certain times of the day and there are no facilities for children.
Its not a tidy site and it has been DIY built so don't expect a professional finish, what you do get though is a site with lots of character, a bacon sandwich and cup of tea bought to the tent for £1. 50, the staff were great, very helpful and lots of quiet, lovely hills around. Would we use this again? You bet.

This campsite was really nice and really laid back. They allow music and camp fires and if you ask you can use the conservatory if is raining. I really enjoyed staying here,
The surroundings are also really nice and the owner was always on hand to help out or offer advice for days trips.
The only downside I found was the toilets and showers. There were 3 portaloos but converted to have a proper toilet and flush in there.
The shower was also in a shed with only one small light (probably for the best so you can't see all the creepy crawlies you're showering with!)
Generally though, I really would recommend this campsite.

This is a lovely camp site with a brook; ideal for dogs. We enjoyed 4 days of hot weather last week with our 4 dogs and really couldn't have chosen a more perfect place. A real feel of yesteryear fills this camp site. Ideal walks for the dogs surrounding and and the brook is great to keep the dogs cool. Lovely owner, very hospitable. Facilities rustic, just right for the keen outdoor types like us. We would highly recommend this place to other dog owners and hope to return for more weekend breaks this year.

Searched for a small tents only campsite near Bala that allowed dogs and campfires. Old Vicarage seemed to fit the bill perfectly. Stayed 3 nights, 2 of them on our own. Good points are the above and that it is a level field and the owner is friendly and helpful, and it is riverside. Downsides are road noise, which is quite intrusive during the day. Toilets (3) and showers are in garden sheds and a bit botched together, but are adequate. The site generally seemed a bit unkempt. Grass was quite long and, even when I pointed out litter left by previous campers on our chosen pitch, the owner made no attempt to clean it up, so I did it myself.
