I have been to this lovely site four times now, which speaks for itself! In July and August you would have to book, or be prepared to wait, sometimes overnight, outside the gates (unless you book of course staff very friendly), or go to one of the less popular sites. This is the most beautiful site on lago Maggiore ! If you go in June or September, (or earlier or later) you can park outside the gates, and ask for a map to choose yourself a pitch, and then go for a wander around to find a spot that you like, and then check at reception on its availability.
At the weekends lots of Italians come from the surrounding area for some weekend camping and family time. There are lots of Dutch and Germans, so not greeting your neighbours every time you pass is seen as a bit ignorant! (being Dutch I know!)
Security is very tight, so if you come back in the evening make sure you display all the right car-badge, and be prepared, after 11.00 pm or so, to park outside the gates and walk back in!. Security also patroll the site at night, and make sure it is quiet, apart from the snoring.
The beach is lovely, and you can swim among the little fishes in the clear water. There are some motor boats, but swimming areas are clearly marked out and safe. This is one of the few sites with a fantastic pool and a beach. There are also pedalos for hire, and canoes. On a clear day you can see the snow topped alpes in the distance.
We regularly take our 2 autistic boys, who really love it here. The new toilet block is lovely, with cute toddler baths. The beach pitches get a bit busy, but further back there is more shelter from any adverse weather, and the sunshine, and much quieter. The pool (see website) has been recently been added to and the entertainment was well organised. The pizzeria looked out over the pool, and was great, and the surrounding area is beautiful, well worth the drive ! Try stopping in Tittisee in the Black Forest, or Luxembourg on the way down for a great holiday!

Not a bad site but lacked in atmosphere. Is 2 star, but this is not displayed on the website
Planned to stay for 14 nights, but cut it short to 7 - for the following reasons:-
Although our pitch was excellent right by the lake (we requested and paid extra for this), the nearest toilet block (which took about 4 minutes to walk to), did not have any showers - so after swimming in the lake, you then had to walk about 10 minutes to find a block with showers.
Although very 'green' and thus saving water - to wash up - you had to queue up to get hot water at a special tap - for you then to tip into your sink. At busy times, there was a lot of queueing!
The weather although sometimes hot - rained a lot - out of the 7 days we were then we had 4 days of rain/thunder/lightening - though of course, this is not the campsites fault - the roads became very muddy and slippery around the site - our pitch became so sodden we worried about getting our caravan out.
Please also be warned, although this is a lakeside site - the main part of the site and longest stretch of the lake, was mainly concrete and had boats moored up - no place for sunbathing - we were lucky - although at the far end of the site - had a small area of lake where no boats allowed so could actually get into the water safetly.
So on the whole, not a fantastic site, did have evening entertainment - we were the only English campers on the site - and it is massive - they were mainly Dutch campers.
Not a site I will return to - although were good enough not to charge us the full 14 days that we had booked for and let us go early with just paying 7 days.
