We have stayed at this site five times now so we must like it.
Pitches are average size for the area ie. not huge but large enough for tent, table and chairs. The ones backing onto the bar area are very noisy. We were initially given one of these last year but they changed it when I requested a quieter pitch.
Toilet blocks are clean and well maintained. No loo roll provided as is usual. There are French and English style toilets. The showers are ok. Most toilet and shower areas are unisex. We have only had to queue once but have seen queues at 'peak' times.
The site is off the main road into Portiragnes so feels less busy than some of the other sites whose pools are overlooking the road.
Pool complex is not huge but is fine for a swim and splash about. There are lifeguards on duty at all tims and the no shorts rule is strictly enforced. Not much shade at the pool which can be a problem as it does get very hot.
They run an entertainment programme at certain points during he day at the pool, aqua aerobics and dancing were two that spring to mind!
They speak good English at reception and are very friendly. There is a also book exchange here and you can use the internet (not free though).
You can hire bikes and the Canal du midi is only a short distance away. Just down the road from the site is a stables if you fancy a horse rid.
The beach that the site is on is lovely. Very unspoilt. It does get busy but you can always find a space. The sand gets incredibly hot! The beach is only a 5 min walk from the tent. You can pop back for lunch rather than having to lug everything with you. It's also lovely to go and sit on the beach and watch the sun go gown in the evening. We often wonder down after dinner with a glass of wine. Bliss.
The shop is good. Sells fresh meat, fish and veg as well as all the ususla staples. Also has a tapas section.
Portiragnes is a typical small tourist town. Not the prettiest place in the world but has decent restaurants. A couple are on the beach front and there are lots of others along the side roads and in the center of the town. My favourite is Marie Jaques which is great for seafood. Go early or book.
There is a really good Carrefour at Villeneuve les Beziers which is only a short car journey. The roads can get very busy though at certain times.
We don't tend to do much on holiday apart from laze about so am not great on days out I'm afraid
There is the usual evening entertainment. The restaurant really quite nice but you do have to book a table to be sure of getting one for th time you would like. The take away does good pizzas and other favourites.
All in all a nice site that is slightly cheaper than others in the area.
