We did not make a reservation, just turned up. The reception was very busy but efficient and the line moved quickly, also was air-conditioned so quite pleasant away from the 40+ degree temperature outside.
All the staff spoke very good English and was no problem to secure a pitch.
At first was a bit apprehensive with the site having so many pitches, but that was quickly displaced. They had a whole variety of pitch sizes and locations, the ones on the sea front where very crowded and packed in, but come back a layer or two and very pleasant. Plenty of shade if wanted, but also open pitches if required.
Even though there where so many pitches, you did not feel like you where on one large site (unlike in the south of France), there where several bars, cafes and a couple of pools, and other sports facilities (enough to keep any teenager happy), a very well stocked supermarket, and also a separate fish monger on site. It was like a little village with all the different enclaves.
There was not much outside of the campsite, but did not really need it as was able to get everything on site (we stayed only 5 days, so not much need to go off site – only used a fraction of the facilities on site so no chance of getting bored)
The pool by the main restaurant was busy but understandable as parents where enjoying a cool drink whilst the kids played in the water (pint of beer approx £ 1.65 !)
The second pool, (much larger) was again very busy but not so much so that the kids could not have a good play around. Was not a deep a pool. Also was a shallower area for the very young ones.
The food quality in the restaurant was excellent, the portions very substantial, and the prices very low. The staff all very helpful and friendly. They actually appreciated taking to the English as a majority of the site was German or Dutch. (but that was not a problem – if I wanted to go to a site that was full of British I would have gone to Skegness)
There was a very good beach frontage, with plenty of water activities, and little stalls selling a good choice of drinks, fresh fruit, and also the typical beach side stuff. Further along was a naturist beach, but did not go down that end as dogs where not allowed
There where several shower blocks on the site, the ones we used where kept very clean with what looked like a constant cleaning staff per block. Plenty of hot water for showers, even though heavy usage. At peak times there where queues but everyone formed a line (very British) and it soon went down. Alternatively we found it better to go outside for the peak times
One section of beach was put aside for dogs allowing the four legged friend to enjoy a swim. There where plenty of places for dog walking and facilities for disposing of any associated mess.
One of the shower blocks even had its own dog shower.
One gripe would be that there where not enough conveniently located water points for filling up with fresh water, but there where also a section of pitches that had their own water.
A very enjoyable site, that would recommend, do not be put off by the size and number of pitches as once through the gate you would know that it catered for so many people
