Just spent 3 nights at this site.
The max distance you can get away from the train tracks is 33 meters. 33 meters from high speed, freight you name it trains all day and night ! On the other side you have an industrial depot so any chance of sleep is no existent.
The site is an extension to a pub car park of which the hard standing is made of old road scrapings ( even has a cats eye surround half buried in it on pitch 5) It also has a few resident old moss covered caravans on site.
The toilets and showers are grotty, exposed and in my opinion unsafe under foot especially for young children who's feet would fit between the slatted wood floor sections put down on top of road scrapings again (I will say the shower was hot) All this made worse by the resident family in one of the caravans on site leaving dirty clothing, towels etc all over the shower-shed.
Even the pub looked un-inviting. To use this as a stop over would require the need to rest and sleep for an onward trip? There are better sites in and around Newark or the A1 that would be more suiting and I must also add cheaper.

We stayed at the site between Xmas and new year for 1 night as we were moving onto a rally next day, there was only one other motorhome on site.
Site is clean and tidy, with showers which were basic but clean with plenty of hot water. The only down side to the site is you have got intercity HST trains running along site, you get used to them and we didn't hear them during the night. Landlord is very friendly and welcoming. Site fees with ehu £15pn but because we had a meal on Saturday night we got £5 back. Meal was excellent, we had 2 starters, 2 steak meals, and a bottle of wine for £20 (which we were allowed to take back to motorhome) We will be going back sometime with our grandsons for a weekend, I would really recommend this site.

We have just returned from a two night stay at this pub caravan site.
It is literally two minutes off of the A1 and easy to find.
It is bang next to the East Coast Mainline, which means you can hear the trains racing past quite often, however this did not bother us at all as my husband is a 'spotter'
We used the pub both nights, where we received a warm welcome, we had a few drinks and a meal. The food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced.
The facilities were reasonable given the size of the site, clean and tidy.
Would definitely return.

This site is quite a find if you're travelling the A1. It's literally a couple of minutes off the A1 from the slip-road to Sutton / Carlton-on-Trent. The Pub is nice and friendly and has a great mix of choices on the menu. I think it can suit most budgets.
The pitches are very well kept and all have electricity. We paid £15 per night and we spoke with a couple of regular visitors who said that the pub has quite a few specials nights. The toilet and shower are very clean.
The trains that run at very regular intervals could be a pain although I think as an overnight stopover this site has found its market.
The clean and tidy site coupled with a well run Country Pub I think basically does what it says on the tin.
The proprietors are very helpful and the live entertainment that was on was a definite bonus. There is a children's playground and indoor area with stuff to keep them entertained, they are allowed in until about 9pm.
