 Went for a week.

Was quiet but early season.

Talking to owners just been taken over so restaurant and pool being refurbish for this season.

Lovely staff and facilities really clean.

Nothing too much trouble.

Beautiful area with lots to do.

Will definitely come back.

We visited end of September so out of season. Nice little site, good size pitch for Italy, and very well placed for Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Sienna and of course a myriad of other Tuscan villages. Pitches all on terraced areas with a steep hill down into the site. DO NOT follow your sat nav. Follow the instructions given on the Campsite website, and take the road for MONTOPOLLI. Your sat nav may well take you down a VERY steep road and up the other side, not at all good when towing !

Sanitary block not new but very clean and loads of hot water at any time. Washup and washing machine on other side of shower area. Pool lovely with sunbeds and brollies. Small childs play area and a place available for ball games.

English speaking very helpful staff at reception with tips on where to go and how to get there, ie get the train to Florence don't try to park there.

Didn't use the restaurant but had a very yummy take away pizza which was very well priced. Would recommend for a few days to explore the area and well priced out of season as the site is a Camping Cheque site.

Upon arrival were were given a map with areas circled and invited to select our own pitch. The pitches were of varying sizes and we selected a large one for our tent. It was slightly sloping with some shade from the trees. Pitches were on terraces. We used one of the sanitary blocks which was clean and in good working order. Toilet paper was not provided. Hot water was always available. Dish washing facilities were located behind the toilet block and were covered. There was also a large chest fridge for campers to use free of charge. The pool was good and a toilet was available near the pool although for a woman it was difficult and unusable unless you sat down. I chose not to use it. There was a small shop on site which was expensive and also a restaurant which we did eat at but only once because there was very limited menu and the food was not very good. The reception did provide excellent local information and were very helpful. All in all we would probably stay again but only if we needed to as a overnight stay on route elsewhere.

This is another of those sites that would be very pleasant in the summer. There are terraced pitches, some bungalows, plenty of trees for shade and views of the Appenines. In November it was perfectly adequate, but of course the swimming pool and pizzeria were closed, and only one toilet block was open. Pitches vary in size and aren't marked, so we were able to choose a nice large one, although it was slightly sloping. The ground got a bit muddy when it rained but this would not be a problem in summer.

The toilet block was very clean and modern, fully enclosed and heated, though there was no loo paper. There was another, more open toilet block but it was closed during the winter. Unfortunately the washing-up sinks and washing machines were in the open, without even a small roof, which was inconvenient in the rain! Reception was staffed by a helpful young lady who spoke good English, and there was free wifi.

The town of Montopoli is very small and quaint. There is a medium-sized supermarket 3km away in San Romano, and a huge shopping mall 15km away in Empoli, which also has a station for trains to Florence.

The campsite is very well-placed for visiting the many interesting towns in the area. We visited Florence, Siena, Lucca and San Gimignano, and although the weather was cold it was wonderful to see them relatively free of tourists!
