Ideally placed for travellers to/from Turkey or Bulgaria, with a long sandy beach, within walking distance of the town - it should be a pleasure to arrive and stay here.
Instead, the whole place is like a badly maintained refugee camp with dismal facilities, no washing machines, wifi that wasn't working and an abandoned restaurant.
We have camped here regularly over the years as there is no alternative but the place is sadly deteriorating. And meeting the Receptionist (Soula) on duty when we arrived felt more like being taken into custody.
The only greeting was 'ID, I must have your passports', all other ID being refused. When I went back to the motorhome to fetch our passports for perusal, she came out after me shouting 'Where have you gone'!
Then we were allocated a pitch number that, when eventually found, was already occupied. No apology, of course, when I trudged back. When asked the price (for a motorhome, 2 adults and electric - hardly unusual) a complicated price list was pushed at me, with different seasons, discounts and tax to decipher myself. Asking about laundry, I was told to use the sinks - and yet we found adverts for a local launderette scattered about the site.
With Covid still an issue, the cold-water handbasins in the toilets had no soap, hand gel, paper towels or driers.
The Town Hall should be ashamed of its municipal campsite facilities and the reception given to paying customers.

Coming in the opposite direction from the previous reviewer, for us the last site in Greece before the border with Bulgaria. In winter its actually one of the only sites open from Thessaloniki right over.
A large municipal site, several long term stayers and others just using as an overnight. Pitches ranged from large to absolutely enormous, never seen pitches are big as the front row, room for big caravan, awning, car and then same amount of room again. Many of the pitches have complete covering which could be good in summer.
All pitches have ehu, plenty of water taps although only one in use in winter. Showers / toilets old but clean, not heated though so very cold in winter. The showers had plenty of hot water and good pressure. Soap and loo rolls were provided in toilets.
Clothes washing is hand wash only but plenty of hot water in big sinks. There are several dry cleaners and a launderette in town.
Campsite restaurant is open even in winter, limited menu but good well cooked food at reasonable prices, lovely friendly service.
As previous reviewer states its mainly used in low season by people heading to and from Bulgaria and Turkey. In summer would imagine its a lovely site, right on the beach with its own beach bar yet only a short walk to town and the bars / shops there which are plentiful.
We paid €19. 50 per night for 2 adults with ehu, 10% discount if you have an ACSI card. Not the cheapest of sites but its well placed for the borders and even though its not the most attractive looking its a good site we would use again.

This is the first campsite you come to if, like us, you've taken the overland route to Greece via Romania and Bulgaria! It's a good staging post before moving on, either East to Turkey or West to other areas of Greece. It's a very large, well-run municipal campsite with spacious hedge-marked pitches, all with a hardstanding area and a grassy area shaded by trees. Reception is manned 14 hours by friendly, English-speaking staff. In high season there is a mini-market and taverna and it might well be fairly lively and noisy, but in September it was quiet, though by no means deserted. There's a large beach adjoining the site with beach bars and activities, though again they were closed by late September. The toilet blocks are good, very clean, with toilet paper provided and plenty of hot water. The washing-up and laundry sinks are completely under cover, very useful in a year-round site where it can get quite chilly in winter. The only drawback is the lack of a washing machine. As is common in Greece there are a number of stray cats who are very grateful for titbits!
The bustling town centre is a short walk away. There are some pleasant sea-front cafes and tavernas, and plenty of supermarkets and other shops, and a large weekly market. A short drive away is the Ebro Delta which is a nature reserve noted for birdlife.
