Site was rather difficult to find due to road closures - not the site's fault.
Very welcoming owner.
Pitch was rather water logged, but that was due to unprecedented rainfall - other than that brilliant with electricity, water and drainage.
Toilets really clean and segregated. Close to beach where dogs allowed.
Close to bakery which sold fabulous cakes and bread - in fact locals queuing up when we left on a Sunday.
There are also restaurants within walking distance.
Main reason we went to this site was to get EU Pet Passport for our dog in Bruges. Convenient for Bruges, Ypres, Tyne Cot etc. No hesitation in recommending.

A first visit to this site. Warmly welcomed by the owners who were very helpful. The facilities were clean and well appointed. The site is mainly given over to statics but with about 20 generously sized pitches for tourers. The touring pitches are at 'the front' of the site so no need to drive through any of the statics.
There is a children's playground but we didn't sample it.

A lovely small site close to Ostend and convenient for visiting Brugge. Tram stop within 15 min walk from where you can travel along the coast both ways for miles - various ticket options available. Bakers short walk away but other shops are more than a stroll away. Several supermarkets within a 5 min drive - free 30 min parking opposite 3 on main strip. Johan, the owner, is most pleasant with a great sense of humour and has fluent English. Didn't use facilities on site as have them in our caravan! Pitches were a good size as the 3 of us all had twin axles and thought the individual electric, water and waste were brilliant. Would certainly recommend site either as a few days stopover or a week's relaxation. There are a couple of play areas for kids and the beach and sea are within walking distance.

Updating my earlier review, the site's high standards continue to be maintained, but the local convenience store mentioned is currently closed, meaning a slightly longer walk or drive towards the centre of Bredene (or De Haan).
There is now a nominal charge by the local authority for a refuse bag, but this is optional (ie you can take your rubbish away and dispose of it elsewhere).
The local tramhalte is now known as Bredene Renbaan.

My wife and I have just returned from a fantastic 2 week stay at this pleasant little site on the outskirts of Ostend. The owners are always available, helpful and speak very good english. The site is clean and tidy and well lit. Facilities are clean and tidy, although we used our own shower, so cannot comment on shower pressure etc. The site does not supply toilet roll or soap (apparently this is the norm in Europe). The washing machines and driers are operated by a token purchased from reception.
It is around a 10 minute walk to the nearest tram stop(the 7 day pass is excellent value)and the nearest beach access. As this is only a small site the owners do not accept cards as payment, it is cash only.
The pitches vary in size but ours was private, surrounded by privet hedges and hop vines, we also had our own water and grey waste facilities. Overall a very good site. \we look forward to our next visit.

This small, well-laid-out and carefully maintained site is run by a friendly English-speaking couple.
It is one of two adjacent sites located on a quiet road running alongside (but separated from by a strip of woodland) the main coastal dual carriageway, which in this area carries the tramway on its central reservation, and is situated close to De Haan's boundary with Bredene.
For backpackers and those simply wishing to explore the Belgian coast by public transport, the site's nearest Tram Halte is Bredene Hippodrome. The tram stop is accessed by a pedestrian underpass which continues under the main road to the beach.
The level pitches are in small groups bounded by willows and neatly trimmed privet.
There is a play area which amongst other items includes a heavy-duty outdoor table football game.
The modern toilet / shower block is fitted with solar water heating panels on its (SE facing) roof, as is the house in which the reception office is situated. As well as token operated indoor washing / drying machines, there is another washer and a drier outside, along with well-designed stainless steel units for hand laundry, drinking water, dishwashing and (separately of course) chemical toilet disposal and cleaning.
Hot water was available at the outside washing facilities. Although there seemed to be no provision for hand drying inside the building, we found the cleanliness of all facilities more than acceptable. Just a word of warning about the timed, infra-red triggered lighting - the sensor is aimed at the main entrance, so those overstaying their welcome in closet or cubicle could find themselves in the dark!
There is no shop on the site, but a convenience store (perhaps not as convenient as its UK equivalent with regard to opening times) can be found by turning left out of the site entrance and left again at the first junction. There are plenty of other shops (including a camping shop) in Bredene, and a little further away in the opposite direction in the centre of De Haan.
There are numerous attractions at the various Flemish Coast resorts, which as suggested earlier can be visited by the convenient tram service. Bruges is a short drive away, and also has frequent train services from both Ostende and Blankenberge.
De Haan itself, as well as usual resort facilities (including cycle hire) has an interesting Sunday market. Reception at De Heide had a range of tourist information leaflets, as well as a 'magazine' from Keijmel Recreatie which turned out to be the catalogue of 'the largest camping shop in Zeeland' - well, since we intended visiting the Netherlands anyway our next stop was their shop in Breskens!
Site fees 2 + tent + ehu €20.
