Beware the roads on this side of Como are very narrow and nobody slows down.

However, the site itself is superb. Not too expensive, despite it's location right next to the Lake. We were near the top of the site so didn't have a view of the water but watching lightning lighting up the mountains behind most nights made up for that.

Toilets and showers are clean, modern and spacious. The bar has free wi-fi and the food and drink is reasonably priced (they will order pizza for you from the pizzeria just up the road. History and culture in local villages and you can swim in the lake if you don't mind clambering over rocks and sharing with the ducks!

Fabulous site! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. This is a quiet site but the facilities are fantastic. The toilet block is immaculate, showers spacious and hot as you desire. Only 4 Euros to do a clothes wash- handy to freshen your towels etc. Prices very reasonable, both for camping & eating/drinking. We were a party of 3 motorhomes and were given ample sized adjacent pitches to include a daytent & small tent as well as communal area. Access to the beach was less than a few yards and the walks to Dongo and Gravedona, flat though gravelled, and set in picturesque surroundings. Excellent, and reasonable priced restaurants in Dongo. Be aware of the water taxis though - they make life simple for getting to the likes of Bellagio but the timetable was a little confusing for us (Mon-Sat, Religious hols/Sundays only) with our limited 'Italian' and the kiosk unmanned at non-sailing times. You can pay for a ticket 20 mins before sailing & we were told by the attendant that the price covered fast and slow crossings, this was not the case and we were caught out with a 3. 50 Euro supplementary fee to return on the fast ferry (which turned out to be very fast & exciting, go below deck if you get the chance!), in total we paid around 17 Euros each for Dongo to Bellagio return, and Bellagio is well worth the visit! We loved every minute of our time on Como, and would return again in a heartbeat!

After reading some very positive reviews on Trip Advisor for this site we had high expectations, but were a little disappointed on arrival. The girl on Reception was friendly and spoke English but as soon as they realised how long our motorhome was (7. 5m), she panicked and stuck us right next to Reception near the entrance to the site. We were hoping to at least be able to see the lake from our pitch but ended up in a noisy, busy position with views of a static caravan. We think there were a few pitches further into the site that we could've got in but weren't given the chance.

However, the site itself was friendly, clean and tidy. There was a bar in Reception with free wifi also available there. There was no children's play area. Access to the lake was via a gate through the site, with a walkway along the lake. The small town of Gravedona was within walking distance of the site, taking approx 20 mins. Cost per night was around 25 euros for two adults, two dogs and a motorhome with electric.

A lovely location right next to the lake, walk out of the site and you are straight onto the 2 mile long lake side path. The views of the lake and mountains are beautiful.

We drove here up the west side of the lake, the road is narrow in places and interesting when coaches are coming both ways.

The owners were friendly and speak English. They let us choose our pitch and also advised us of the walks along the lake side path. They don't take card payments but there are 2 banks in Dongo to withdraw cash if necessary.

The bar is very reasonably priced (1. 30 euro for a glass of wine) and has free wi-fi access. Dogs are allowed on site and also in the outside seating area at the bar, they are made to feel welcome unlike some other locations in Italy.

The toilets are the best we have ever seen, immaculate at all times. The flush for the toilets is foot operated and the taps are sensor activated – brilliant!

They have 25 permanent pitches and 25 tourist pitches, the permanent pitches were hardly occupied during our stay and the site was very quiet. The pitches although initially seeming quite cramped together (due to the size of the awnings on some of the permanent caravans) had plenty of space for our campervan and awning. We have noticed that European pitches, in general, seem to be smaller and closer together than on the majority of UK sites.

In summary, a beautiful, small, family run campsite with excellent facilities in a stunning location.
