Simple campsite, very clean with knowledgeable staff, one spoke English. She gave us info about visiting the cathedral/mosque and the bus timetable. Sadly our only day was Saturday when the buses were limited to one in and one back. We asked about parking and she told us about the Arcangel shopping centre a short walk from the cathedral, which has free parking.
Very easy to get in and back- not sure of the distance but less than 20 miles.
Definitely worth a visit.

Camping La Abolafia is a small, simple ACSI site on the outskirts of Villafranca with a handful of chalets and one toilet block in the middle of the pitches. At this time of year there were about six other units of mainly English people on site. The pitches were a reasonable size for Spain and surrounded by trees. Thee are no views from the site. The owner spoke a little English and bread was available at reception to order. The Wifi only worked occasionally and not for long on our pitch. It was E19 a night which I thought was a little on the dear side for a very simple site.

We stayed for two nights. An ideal site to 'do' Cordoba.
Large pitches surrounded by hedging, mostly gravel and level.
Decent facilities. Clean.
The impressive entrance buildings with restaurant/bar etc were all closed when we stayed.
I think business has been poor and a lot of the anticipated use has failed to materialise. But with most of your stay focused on the splendours of Cordoba. Does it matter?
We spent all our time in the city, and only nights at the camp site.

Nice roomy pitches and free Wifi in the cafe, with no requirement to buy food or drink to use Wifi.
Facilities block was reasonably clean, showers quite difficult to use as you literally have to keep pressing quite hard on the knob to mKe the shower work. Also showers very much warm rather than hot and temperature not adjustable.
Villa Franca de Cordoba is a bit down in it's luck to say the least, struggled even to buy bread locally! The bread available on site was a bit like cotton wool. It was however, very convenient for seeing the city of Cordoba, which is very well worth a visit.
As a convenient place to stay for a couple of nights, would recommend it.

This is a fairly new, well-laid out site with attractive buildings and flower-beds. There are some bungalows and statics, and touring pitches are spacious and hedge-marked, with some trees for shade. As we were there out of season the shop, restaurant and swimming pool were closed but we could sit in the TV room to use the free wifi. I imagine that it would be a very pleasant place to stay in summer.
There are however a few minus points. The showerblock is very clean but there are no toilet seats, 'for reasons of hygiene'. The showers are rather awkward to use - push button, with no temperature control, and they need to be pressed very hard to work. The water stops as soon as you take your hand off the button. The wash-basins are also push-button. The washing-up and laundry sinks, which are outside but covered, have cold water only. There is a washing machine but it's service wash only. Another problem (which is unlikely to happen in summer) is that the ground is clay and gets very waterlogged in wet weather. It became a quagmire while we were there!
The local town, Villafranca, has a small supermarket. It's a 15-minute drive to Cordoba which is a wonderful city with both Roman and Moorish remains. To my mind the Mezquita is even more amazing than the Alhambra. The Juderia, the old Jewish area of narrow streets, is full of interesting shops, and the Roman bridge over the Guadalquivir river is very impressive. I'd love to return to Cordoba but I think I would choose another campsite.
