Appalling in hindsight. Delightful area and with limited other options on the peninsula, it is the only 'natural/back to basics' site in the vicinity. However, the site is ran by a rather unwelcoming British woman who was anything but friendly. The pitches are minute - just big enough for a four person tent at a squeeze - which would leave less than two foot between pitches.
Essentially, this is like camping in somebodies back garden - albeit in a beautiful area - it is claustrophobic, closely monitored/policed and not somewhere you can relax and enjoy. The site sounds perfect by its implied ethos and description, as well as the accompanying photographs - but beware the picture of an empty site on a website - any tents pitched up and photographed would've given the dimension of the pitches away and revealed the reality of what the site really like!
Definitely a no no for families unless your children are perpetual whisperers - looked a complete nightmare and very stressful for the few families that were there - with your neighbours tent less than two feet away, its not a site that looked like it relaxed parents!

Stayed for 2 nights in 2006 on a stop over, really wanted to be in nice town on Lake Como and thought Bellagio was the best bet.
As other review says, this is pretty much just a big ( rather nice ) field with sanitary block down one end. Sounds basic but for us with our little tent it was great. Owner really lovely and loaned us a load of chairs, table, umbrella and bbq as we were travelling light. Nice touch.
Facilities were new and absolutely fine. Not a ton of stuff on site but bars, restaurants etc easily accessible in local area. Lovely, family type places. Lake itself is gorgeous, plenty to see and do.
Would definitely return for much longer period.

Run by a slightly eccentric english woman, it's a small, beautifully situated site.
Very simple in layout. A big field, really. Services are clean and fine.
Short walk to nearby restaurants and down to the town. Uphill on the way back!
Bellagio is very pretty with good shops (up market and fashionable).
Bellagio is a main ferry port for all the Como boats. A range of timetables will allow you to visit many other towns and villages around the lake. You can get off, spend an hour or two, then catch another ferry off to the next place.
The lake is beautiful, so is so much of the architecture. Pretty crowded in season. But if you like style. The whole area oozes it.
This campsite offers a great centre for seeing it all. But, the site itself offers nothing more than a decent base. Very tranquil if you want to sit and read or siesta. But nothing else. For some, that'll be perfection. For a family. You'll be out of the place most of the day!
