We really needed a site in Sallanches to be near family we were visiting - but all the sites suffer from road noise. This was the best but even so, at first I thought I couldn't stick it. However - provided I used earplugs at bedtime (I am super sensitive to noise) it was fine. In every other respect we liked it.
The proprietor was very pleasant, the cafe was great for a simple meal and we enjoyed our French and Dutch neighbours. We do think best to be near the railway which means furthest from the road.
There are plenty of places for days out - even Annecy not so far - and the Trois Lacs are beautiful for an easy stroll. Anyway we will be back in 2013 for another ten days.

Pick your pitch carefully and you have the most stunning views of Mont Blanc from your doorway - but be warned, you're better to be on the railway side of the site (as the trains are few), than on the motorway side (the traffic noise there is relentless).
The site is in the valley on flat land, so easy for those who don't want to tow up steep roads into the high mountains. But having got there it's an excellent touring centre with access to spectacular sights all around, chair lifts and mountain railways, plus the attractions of Chamonix just up the valley. You really MUST fork out the money to go to the top of the Aiguille du Midi - but pick a sunny day for that.
It's a big site but not posh - a pond to splash about in but no swimming pool. You can pitch where you want in on a wide grassy plain - there are no hedged marked pitches - but you may need a long lead to reach the power points, so pace it out before you set up camp. Bread and basic groceries available in a morning, and a cafe for basic meals in an evening - though not haute cuisine by any means.
If you come here you'll want to be out all day, walking or touring around and it's an excellent centre for that. We've been three or four times.
