Pool Bridge Farm is a gorgeous little campsite that me and my husband stayed at for a weekend to visit York.
We stayed in a Timber Tent on the Friday and Saturday night and we found it perfect for a couple. The T.T. kept us toastie warm and dry and far better than putting up a tent!
The campsite is ideally located for visiting York. You can park for free at the shopping centre McCarthur Glenn (about 1. 5 miles away) and there are buses to and from York every 15 minutes. There are also long walks and bike rides along the countryside footpaths that run through the campsite.
Onsite - the staff are very friendly and there is a cafe serving breakfasts, sandwiches and hot drinks and is more than adequate. The new toilets and showers had just opened when we arrived, and what can I say other than WOW!
There is a brand new male/female toilet and a wet room, to add to the existing toilets. I would highly recommend visiting and at £40 per night it doesn't get much better value for money.
I am planning to come back this autumn with my family to stay in the tipi and do some proper outdoor camping as the owners are allowing open fires in the Autumn time. Bliss!

Having read the previous reviews I must have stayed somewhere else.
We booked to stay in one of the wooden tents and although there were no pictures on the website I assumed they would be like all of the other wooden 'pods' I had seen on other sites. I couldn't have been more wrong!
It was described as being a 4 /5 person tent. In our party there were two average sized adults, an 8 year old and a baby. It was far too small for us. It was a fairly cold and wet day (typical British Summer) yet the heat inside during the night was unbearable. The 'ventilation system' was a tiny window which made no difference as there was no other opening to enable the air to circulate. We resorted to having the door open all through the night which I really feel is unacceptable. We had booked for four nights and left after one.
The cafe although it looked very nice is only open from 8. 45am until 2. 45pm so by the time I had arrived on the first day I was too late to sample it which is a shame as the site was busy with both campers and those fishing so I'm not sure why it has to close so early and at the height of the season too.
Someone else described the shower and toilet as clean but basic, basic yes but when I saw them the first afternoon and the following morning they appeared quite dirty and I really don't think that one shower and one toilet is enough for the site. There was only one socket for the whole site and that was in the disabled toilets. Having said that they are building some new showers so maybe others have mentioned this already to the owners.
In terms of location it is very good for York and its attractions, the designer outlet and Wetherby.
All in all I was really disappointed with this site and certainly won't be staying here again.

Outstanding site in a perfect location!
I stayed in the Tipi that is on site and it really was worth every penny. Lovely and warm even when it got cold outside. The Tipi was ample big enough for us, 2 adults and 2 children.
The toilets and showers are clean and functional and I was more than happy with them, the toilets are basic. As in there isn't a chap in the corner handing me a hand towel and offering me a selection of aftershaves. It was a clean nice toilet.
There is a load of room on the site for the little ones to run around and play in the beck and woods. One of the little ones did fall in the beck, she loved it! Dried her wellies and she was off again.
The cafe is great and serves Italian Coffees, double expresso in the morning if you need a kick start.
5 mins from Designer outlet and 15 mins to York Town, yet you are in the stunning countryside.
We loved it.

Lovely quiet site,5 tent pitches then field for extra tents. 1 shower, 1 female, 1 male & 1 disabled toilet we never had to queue. Fishing lakes were very good a choice of 4 to choose from my husband really enjoyed this.Friendly staff. 10 mins to York in car, 2mins drive to designer outlet for the fishing widows. Not a lot in immediate area for food, found a nice Chinese take away in Selby.
My child is 14 so doesn't need much entertaining she enjoyed fishing with her dad & going shopping to the outlet. There are plenty of opportunities to go for walks as it is set in woodlands & farmland. Nice cafe on site reasonably priced 90pence for coffee, they sell decaff coffee as well which is really good to find as a lot of larger places do not.
This is a really good site for a peaceful, relaxing break. We are already looking at going back again very soon. Would definitely recommend this site.

Stayed here fri/sat night,
Good points
Friendly staff, nice full English for £4.
Not so good points
Very steep drop into a shallow beck that runs right through the tent pitch area (not so good if you have little ones, needs a fence to make it safe)
Fishing is open to anyone, not just campers so by the time we got ready to fish almost every peg was occupied?
Also £8 to fish 2 rods(campers should at least get a discount)
Cafe only opens until 2.30pm
Toilets very very basic,
Only 1 shower for all, also as basic as you could get (no frills)
Nothing for kids to do
Nearest pub was a few miles away
Bit tricky to find not well sign-posted.
It was bank holiday weekend but not very busy, to improve they should upgrade toilet/shower area, offer campers discount for fishing.
