Decided to leave the caravan at home and go in the tent with the kids! Had a lovely stay, lovely location with nice beaches near by (great for the family). The campsite had a very friendly atmosphere, and the other campers all seemed very respectful- we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! Will come again, thank you!

This site has everything you need: car park, showers, sink, toilets, electric hook up if you need it. The owner is very nice, friendly and very helpful. He allowed me to shoot pigeons/rabbits, forage for wild food, and even watch the football (though he may not make a habit of this last!).

It is close to three beaches and to the ferry for Skomer. I cannot recommend it highly enough - it's scenic and charming. Our three year old son was very happy here (cf previous review) and though we were nearish to the road, its so quiet that this wasn't really an issue- had we needed electricity we might have been too close (but extension leads are surely not that difficult ).

We were allowed a fire, and the freedom to find firewood. I suspect he would let you shoot pheasants if they were in season. All in all, I would say this site is perfect.

It might seem a little pricey, but this is Skomer country, and everything is marked up accordingly. There is also a lovely looking self catering apartment.

Slate Mill Lodge is an interesting place but not an ideal campsite to stay with kids. It is attached to a lovely looking B&B, has solar panels and water turbine, modern toilet block with showers - clean and tidy - and is run by a friendly owner.

Toilet facilities were great as site was quiet but 2 toilets and 2 showers might get busy if all 30 pitches were full.

Other facilities available include electricity hook-up, washing machine and dryer, fridge, and logs available for campfire - although several of these appear to be at extra cost, although this is not stated on booking (on arrival we were quoted £3 for using washing machine and £7. 50 for a bag of logs, and decided against both). Unfortunately the site is right next to a road and you can hear the traffic speeding past.

Campsite is divided into small tent-sized pitches surrounded by nettles and brambles (and poisonous woody nightshade berries) - nicely private, but with nowhere for small kids to run around (except into the nettles),

the stream is a recently dug drainage ditch with steep sides - easy to fall into but not accessibly for play. You cannot park a car on the site itself (though car park only a couple of minutes walk away).

Having said that, it is a lovely wild spot - we saw bats and dragonflies, heard owls, and enjoyed meeting the resident chickens. Nearby picturesque villages of Dale and Marloes have superb beaches, facilities, walking trails etc.

I would go back to stay in the B&B but probably not to camp!
